I refute that claim, that literally had no grass on... Chris Lines first game back. The only Lines visible on the pitch.

My guess is that given their ongoing financial problems coupled with the massive (and apparently high-interest) loan financing the stadium rebuild, they will be on ebay.... Must be interest in the old seats. Naming rights sold for £310 million. Revamp costs approx £1.5 billion 😯 What i don't get is they are meant to have some financial difficulties so how can they spend money like this? It seems they are too big to fail. I guess a different stratosphere of football to everyone else.

Popped into the Mem today. No seats in the new stand yet but the rear cladding looks done in the SW corner and looks to be gradually progressing along the new stand. They have already put the temporary seats in the SW corner and adjacent to the away terrace ready for tomorrows game.
The front row of the new Stand seems quite high - judging by the front part of the steel anyway. Do we know if there is more to add at the front to taper the seats down and forward towards pitch level?

Yes because the cows had been let on to the pitch for a spot of lunch.

Theres a structured loan that should see them pay off the stadium by 2047 with restructuring possible at numerous points with flexibility built in.

Yes - leaving a corridor at the moment for equipment to move along the stand & will eventually be filled with seats to pitch level once everything else is complete.

There is still time to comment POSITIVELY on the New South Stand planning application.
In this post there are a few welcome improvements that you might consider adding to your comments.
There are many other positive changes proposed. You can find them in the planning application statements.
If you commented on the previous application you are fully entitled/expected to comment again.
Please do comment. IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
********
THE MEMORIAL STADIUM AS A SPORTING VENUE
Why does the Memorial Stadium need to change?
The scale of the proposed South Stand development is sensible and justifiable.
The increase in capacity of the whole stadium with the construction of the South Stand takes the licenced capacity to 12,534, which is only 258 more than was the case prior to the 2018 application.
There has been a sports stadium present on the site for over 100 years. The homes nearby are much newer and the vast bulk of residents in the immediate vicinity of the stadium moved in after Bristol Rovers returned to Bristol in 1996. For a large proportion of nearby residents, they moved into the area when both Bristol Rugby and Bristol Rovers played at the stadium.
Standing on terraces at professional sports grounds has been actively discouraged for decades and the comfort, safety and convenience of spectators is enhanced by the South Stand seating development. Very few grounds in the professional sphere have had so little modernisation.
The improvements at The Memorial Stadium are long overdue. Visitors to The Mem to watch matches have often travelled very long distances. They deserve better treatment and more suitable facilities. This South Stand is good for visitors, for Bristol Rovers supporters and for the reputation of Bristol.
Building a modern and fit for purpose South Stand demonstrates the continued evolution of the venue which needs massively updating in the light of changing social, economic and environmental conditions.
THE BENEFITS OF THE NEW SOUTH STAND
How does the South Stand fit into the Memorial Stadium?
The new South Stand will have a traditional and semi-permanent football ground aesthetic, thus moving away from the use of temporary and demountable structures in this area of the stadium.
The new facility will have significantly improved comfort, sightlines and wheelchair provision and provide more seamless access/egress arrangements, thus providing more flexibility in instances where the structure is to be split between home and away spectators.
The design of the stands reflects those of the existing East and West stands.
This new South Stand will be more visually appealing than the former temporary stands.
NOISE IMPACT ASSESSMENT
How will residents be impacted by noise from the new South Stand?
The results of the noise mapping investigations show that the proposed changes to the stands will not result in any significant changes in noise level to the immediate residential properties. This is due to the solid metal cladding to the proposed stand that will provide additional acoustic screening.
Most dwellings to the south of the stadium are expected to benefit from a reduction in noise level from the proposed stand. The acoustic benefits of the additional cladding/screening will negate any increase in noise and even reduce noise levels at the properties.
A small number of properties adjacent to the car park will experience a minor increase in noise levels. In the future, the construction of a higher-level seated stand on the East Terrace where Away supporters are currently located might mitigate this impact.
Overall, due to the cladding of the proposed stand, it will result in an overall improvement in noise levels to the surrounding area.
PROPOSED SOLAR ARRAY
What is planned for the roof of the new south stand?
Photovoltaics are to be installed on the roof of the new south stand.
The roof of the stand is South facing and the planned photovoltaic array can be expanded, as and if required, in the future.
The South Stand development will utilise photovoltaics to generate renewable energy on site and offset 20% carbon emissions from the use of electricity.
BIO-DIVERSITY NET GAIN (BNG) ASSESSMENT
What is the conclusion of the Bio-diversity investigation?
The BIA metric indicates that the South Stand development at The Memorial Stadium can achieve a BNG of 10.58% for habitats. The metric results demonstrate that enhancement measures to offsite habitat which is within the football club’s ownership are adequate to deliver the desired biodiversity outcomes. Off-site mitigation through an offset provider is not necessary for this South Stand development.
TRAVEL PLAN FRAMEWORK
The Memorial Stadium is situated in a sustainable urban location which has excellent connections to public transport and enables access by active modes of travel including walking and cycling.
These existing connections could be exploited by the proposed travel plan to encourage a greater share of travel by more sustainable modes.
What extra travel benefits/changes will be included in the TRAVEL PLAN?
Signage Off-Site
The Club has agreed to fund and implement directional signage between the new Ashley Down railway station and the Memorial Stadium to aid wayfinding by foot and cycle for the interconnecting part of a journey by rail.
Stadium Entrance Signage
The Club is committed to mounting outdoor digital information panels at the main entrances to the Memorial Stadium site. These will inform spectators that they are entering a managed travel area.
Cycle Parking
Cycle parking for FIFTY bikes can be provided on site in a location visible to those using The Mem on match days. An equivalent number of safe and secure bike lockers can be provided for cycle equipment.
Scooter Parking
An area within the main car park for FIFTY publicly hired scooters can be provided.
Road Closures
Through the Event Management Plan, a series of localised and temporary road closures can be used to facilitate the safe movement by pedestrians, cyclists, and buses during all matches above 5,000 spectators. The 90 minutes before and after matches might be the key focus for road closures. Roads very close to the stadium such as Filton Avenue, Alton Road and the entrances into the stadium from Filton Avenue would be pedestrianised/closed to traffic in many sporting venues at match times around the country.
Car Parking Management
There remains a necessity to ensure that those visitors with disabilities/mobility impairments are accommodated within the main car park of the site. However, starting in the 2024/2025 season, any car parking in the Memorial Stadium itself is available on a “need only” basis.
Car Travel Disincentives
Detailed directions to the site will inform all spectators, staff, and others, of active travel opportunities, public transport and car sharing as opposed to single occupancy car travel. There is the opportunity for the local authority and residents to monitor on street parking in co-operation with the football club.
Car Sharing
The Travel Plan is designed to raise awareness of initiatives to encourage car sharing amongst existing friends, family, and colleagues. The football club can introduce a liftshare.com portal to allow visitors with no personal associations but who share the same journey to be matched to enable car sharing.
Promotion of Walking
To be able to encourage people to travel on foot, the Travel Plan can ensure all visitors have knowledge, using various mediums, of the varied ways/opportunities to travel to The Memorial Stadium prior to making their journey.
Promotion of Cycling
Cycling has the potential to make up a small element of journeys to the Memorial Stadium on match days. The Travel Plan Co-ordinator will be conducting a comprehensive travel survey to identify the level of on-site cycle parking facilities that is required and ensure safe, accessible, and dry cycle parking is available. This will be supported by cycling maps and information which can be provided to visitors.
Public Transport Measures
The Travel Plan can be utilised to fully inform both home and away supporters, with an emphasis on multi-modal journeys due to the ease of accessing local bus stops and the railway stations via both walking and cycling. Both buses and trains operate in close vicinity of the Memorial Stadium and provide an opportunity to accommodate longer distance journeys. External resources, such as those from Bristol City Council and WECA can be utilised. BCC has noted the potential to fund duplicate bus services.
Rail Services
Following the detailed travel survey there will be the opportunity to increase awareness and use of rail services/links for larger events. Connections to the new Ashley Down Station, Abbeywood Station and Parkway Station are all good and have the potential to be developed over time.
THESE ARE JUST A SAMPLE OF THE DIFFERENCES FROM THE FIRST APPLICATION.
IF YOU SUPPORTED THE PREVIOUS APPLICATION, PLEASE SUPPORT THIS ONE.
YOU ARE WELCOME TO ADD ANY OF THE ABOVE TO YOUR AMENDED COMMENTS.

Did we put an offer in to Barcelona for the old nou camp seats. Didn't know they were pretty much rebuilding the whole stadium until watching their game on TV last night. My guess is that given their ongoing financial problems coupled with the massive (and apparently high-interest) loan financing the stadium rebuild, they will be on ebay.... Ill be over there from Friday to watch the El Clasico. Gonna be strange watching it at their temporary home. The Nou Camp was falling to pieces though!

What will be interesting will be the final number of objections. The NO to south stand group ( 4th group ) wanted more consultation : dialogue and input. The club did this and revamped planning based on issues raised. The ' advocate ' have been meeting with the club for 6-9 months and acting as a go-between. Personally : I don't think it will make any difference and some locals just want the club gone. However: we must wait and see if the number is well below the 300 on the first application ?.
