Does it even matter if letters of support or objection go in? Serious question. How much weight does this activity carry for these things?

There is an obligation for officers to consider comments posted for any application in coming to a recommendation / decision. The weight will depend on the relevancy of the comment in relation to planning rules.

The weight will depend on the relevancy of the comment in relation to planning rules. Also of importance is the 14 day window we will have to make comments to councillors once we know the committee details. It is important we target the Labour & Tories councillors who normally would vote in favour . I suggest we start a new thread once we know the meeting either in mid December or mid January with links to each councillors.

Does it even matter if letters of support or objection go in? Serious question. How much weight does this activity carry for these things? The anti-stadium group think it counts. Why else would they be organising a campaign in which they have: 1. Suggested what people should comment upon. 2. Suggested when they flood the planning portal with their comments. 3. Encouraged outlandish and untrue allegations together with lies, untruths and disingenuous comments. FOR EXAMPLE: I park at about 1.30 pm roughly 15 minutes from the stadium at a place that is called a ROAD. It is pointless trying to get any closer. The "local car-hating residents" have their cars parked outside their homes. There is no car parking space available if I try to get closer to the stadium. I then walk quietly to the ground. At the end of the match I quietly go home. I do NOT drive round and round the area causing traffic chaos and disturbing children sleeping. I do NOT park recklessly on a dangerous corner. I do NOT search for yellow lines to park on. I do NOT block the driveway of residents. I do NOT shout abuse and swear at residents. I do NOT look for opposing fans to fight with. I do NOT urinate in front gardens. * Many of these claims have been repeated on numerous occasions by objectors. The planning officer will note and then disregard untruths.* I cannot and do not speak on behalf of all those who attend matches. I can state that the false assertions by many objectors is an insult to the overall fanbase of Bristol Rovers. In the 27 years we have been at The Memorial Stadium I have witnessed ordinary and decent people going to watch their team at a football match and behaving respectfully. Methinks thee doth prtotesteth too much.

Current count: Objections: 66 Supporting: 194
There are clearly plenty of people that commented on the original application, but haven't this time around. I'd add to the calls for people to comment.

Methinks thee doth prtotesteth too much. Absolutely. There are so many highly exaggerated claims and a huge amount of BS in a lot of the objections. I live a 15 minute walk from the ground and there are hundreds of people walking along from about midday and some are families and many others are more than one to a car. If there is any dangerous parking or obstructing of driveways, why have they not complained and sent photos to the council before now? On this occasion the stand is mainly to accommodate away supporters and most of them arrive by coach anyway.

Why does a support letter from a ST holder in the West stand who lives in Thornbury get any attention? Has BRFC encouraged fans to support this?

As of 12 o'clock today there is 136 objections as they are uping the Anti in the last 9 days ( 7th Nov cut off ). I am watching this like an Eagle and counting. Like I said weeks ago I expect it to exceed the 302 objections in the first application. The locals / Emma challenged us if we consult and discuss the community is likely to support . The club did it revamped application and took on board concerns . Let's see the final count next week ?. Putting this in context 35 objections have gone on in the last 24 hours . They will push really hard now in the final days .

We should thank Sir Trevor for reminding us as he knows exactly what's going on with the objectors.

Methinks thee doth prtotesteth too much. Ok. Does it carry more weight if you live near the ground? No. It is a planning decision. Why does a support letter from a ST holder in the West stand who lives in Thornbury get any attention? It matters because this is a region-wide facility. It is a BRISTOL stadium of historical significance. It has been a Stadium for 103 years. It is an application to improve the comfort, safety and experience of visitors to Bristol and home supporters. It gets due attention because sport is a community integrating part of a vibrant and thriving city. It matters because you value it and believe it should be allowed to develop to cater for modern day supporters. It counts because The Mem is one of the least changed football stadiums in England and requires more seats to comply with the important football and legal demands on clubs who aspire to reach the top two tiers. Has BRFC encouraged fans to support this? Yes. Focus on the material planning issues.

So I don't need to write in? Yes. Please do. Try to be positive. Your comments, even now, can and will be included in the report that is put forward. Don't assume you are wasting your time. You will notice that the anti-stadium lobby will be looking for ways to stop this.

Well done to all those supporters who took the time to SUPPORT one or both planning applications for the badly needed South Stand.
Relevant and material comments made by those who contacted BCC were extremely helpful.
This is just the first part "nearly done."

I've noticed a few inaccuracies in Dan Hargreaves reporting of us recently minor things like him saying not sure why players were taken off in match Reports when they were obviously injured and Barton said they were etc etc Nowhere in this article does it say it's being granted. ( it's going to committee where hopefully it will be granted ) Nowhere in the article does it say this from his headline (Granted, based on the current state of the structure, rejection would've led to serious complications.) And finally the article itself although written by Tristan cork is one regurgitated from Hargreaves notes after the interview with the owner Saturday where he clearly said the redevelopment will be 16/17 k not 17/18k as the article suggests.
