Latest on the Stand update from club this morning 1) Club hope to have the stand open for Tuesday night , but there are a couple of obstacles with the council that have to be sorted first. 2) The club hope to be able to sell half year season tickets soon for the south stand when the stadium is back up to 100% capacity. So if you want to watch our promotion push from the new south stand and get a half year season ticket to do it with , then keep an eye on the official website. 3) There will be no cladding on the east side of the new stand , this means any away fans , like some of those from Northampton who decided to stand on the away terrace and watch the game looking through the side of the new stand will still be able to do so. Also will be open to allow new east stand to link up. 4) The gap in the seating on the east side of the new stand is to remain, it will be filled when the new east stand extension is completed (subject to planning)so that the seating of the two stands can be integrated. I like #4 sounds like a real plan coming together for that end. Can wait to see what it's going to look like.

Thanks for that twerton.Just goes to show the club know what they are doing and know where they are going with this. It appears to me the new owners are further ahead with their plans for ground improvements than many of us give them credit for. Still won't be good enough for some on here.

It's a nice new stand, but.... It's not nice enough, It's not a new build, It should have been done years ago. 🫣

Unlikely - club statement said “new east stand extension” I guess we don't want to lose the function space underneath, so could be a case of taking the roof off and building either side to extend the current stand, new roof all across and seating in the terrace area Something similar to what Plymouth did, although didn't extend the stand. see tweet x.com/Im_sprouticus/status/1727391260380414165?s=20

That said I think our current roof looks more substantial than what they put back on let alone what was already there so it probably won’t be cheap to

Yes if what i suggested in my letter is anything to go by, i can imagine the stadium will eventually be enclosed with new blue seating going all the way around . i always think stadiums with blue seating look so much better than those with red, Trashton often reminds me of legoland with the red seats and something my kids use to build in model form. I suspect the contractors will have to do something similar in the south east corner as they did in the south west but on a bigger scale, because the east stand extension will be higher than the south stand, once the old east stand has been gutted and new seats put in the whole lot will blend together. Most important thing is, that we now have a future where we can move forward and sustain out selves at a higher level, when completed the stadium will be a similar size to Brentford.

I think because the finish is much better than anticipated and the ground is taking shape. Point 4 ) seems to let it down slightly and maybe something could go in there ?. However : this is real progress and the first stand built since 1959 I believe.

What - thinking ahead and being professional? What will the moaners have to say about that? ill start a few off now, they should have never sacked Barton!

Not wanting to grow the FM thread anymore than necessary, starting a new one here - NO NEED TO MENTION THE FM HERE! Be interesting what sort of cap it could possibly have and how much that would increase total - what are current South and SW stand capacities? - assuming in can go all the way round in an L shape that should add at least 50% - if we can go higher (bring forward and move pitch North) possibly more If you search temp stands, this is about the only company that comes up www.glevents.co.uk/solutions/sporting-events/football/Some seem a little more permanent than I'd expect! With the latest photo looking almost finished an maybe open Tuesday - good time to return to the original post. What an unexpected rollercoaster that was!! Well done Rovers, eventually 👏

I guess this will be resolved as they look to extend and join up with the stands at either end.
Aesthetically, I prefer the slight quirkiness of incorporating older structures with new. It's why I'm in the minority that likes the West stand at the Mem and would encourage the development north and south in a similar manner with exec boxes on a tier above the seating and enclosure.

Thanks werton. Whatever happens and whatever the time scale it won’t please everyone but I’ve been impressed by the new owners and what they’ve said and what they’ve done. They have a plan and they are working to it. Well done them. UTG!

Still won't be good enough for some on here. It's a nice new stand, but.... It's not nice enough, It's not a new build, It should have been done years ago. 🫣 Don't come on here saying those sorts of things. Much better than the tents, but I get what you are saying. Others will not. Just say it's great.

Am I the only one not happy with all this?
Surely, the Twerton Azteca crowd can see this is just ridiculous?
Is losing our identity and our soul something to be accepted so easily?
If you are also missing the tents pop over to CHANGE.ORG and support the recently started e-petition by Mrs. Ann Leslie Tonroad.
"We demand the immediate return of the Memorial Ground tents and the removal of the South, South West and West stands."
In addition, we insist that the double level portakabins previously located in the South West corner are returned.
These changing rooms will always remain a key feature of the stadium's heritage.
These bright blue monstrosities were totally appropriate and made the entry/exit from the changing rooms quirky and memorable.
The roof covering the FX Cooling Terrace must be taken off and the Family Terrace must be relocated there at once.
It is imperative that the many unnecessary and detrimental changes to the ground since 1996 are rectified.
It was perfect for nearly 80 years and did not need to be changed.
Please support the e-petition. We already have 6 signatures.

What I would like the ground to look like is demolish the west stand and the north terrace build a continuous stand from the new south stand right around to the east stand and build a massive east stand in sure we could get the ground up to 20k
