We could possibly host 3,000 away supporters in the mem once the new stand is in place, by giving the opposition the Away east terrace and half of the South Stand. There are disadvantages to doing that such as giving the away side more of an atmosphere and having to relocate season ticket holders, but it’s something we’ve never been able to do at the mem before. Could turn the 9000 for a Tuesday night against Plymouth or Portsmouth into a 10,000+ crowd easily. At present the club doesn't sell any season tickets in the South Stand, so there's no issues with moving fans when they give more tickets to away fans. Whether that changes once the new stand is in place hasn't been mentioned so far.

Seen a few modern grounds where the netting, line of stewards and natural segregation due to gangways seems a lot thinner than the mem. Derby had a fence that with it being marshalled made it relatively easy to keep fans at close proximity apart. If we are to have 3000 in the new stand It'd be a significant number of rows. With this type of segregation 100s of seats will not be lost

We sit in the South West.

Anybody know when the application for planning permission. Goes before the planning committee for the temp stand ? I believe we are planning committee B which meets on May 10th. We are not on the agenda for application. The next meeting is June 13th but agendas don't come out until one week before. The application isn't showing online but we could assume it will be debated on June 13th. This allows 30 days for objections prior to meeting. I would expect the application to go live in the next week ?.

There is a 21 day consultation period from when the application to planning is submitted to the planning dept. interested parties and neighbouring property owners will be consulted. After the 21 days all comments received to the designated planning officer are compiled into a report , this is then sent out to planning committee members with the agenda. usually the application will go before the planning committee six weeks after the begining of the consultation period. Procedures may have changed slightly since I was a Landscape and Arb Officer but that is roughly how things work.

How long does it take for the council to put up the notices you see stuck up around properties seeking pp so people can respond? That must take a week or more? So the minimum must be 4 weeks plus however long it takes to then compile the report mentioned?
It looks like July's meeting will be the earliest the plans are discussed, then there's no guarantee plans will be passed without the need for further information to discuss at August's meeting?
I can't see how work can commence until planning is confirmed, just in case it's rejected or final a decision delayed, so it looks like we could well start the new season with the new stand in place?

When the council votes on this new south stand. They need to be aware of the potential implications of fans locked outside the ground due to very limited capacity. I'm amazed there have been no community safety issues like the Leeds game years ago.
The council should fast track it to the mid June meeting and grant permission. As always the Labour group will support it along with the Tories and Liberals. The Greens must stick to the local publicity they shared wanting " A modernised stadium serving the community ". I expect it to fly through!.

Will today be our last sighting of the quite awful south Tent? Do hope so.Bolton fans once described our ground as 'Like something from Chernobyl. Ran the line at their previous 'Burnden Park' ground and recall they sold one end to the Co op.

Do we own or rent the current stands? Does it really matter as I doubt they have much sell on value?

Do we own or rent the current stands? Does it really matter as I doubt they have much sell on value? Not positive on this but i thought i had read that we had rented parts to Wimbledon tennis, in the past. You can bet that there will be lower placed clubs that would want it, or part of it.

Looking forward to the charity match next weekend and seeing the South end being demolished.
Doubt there’s anything to stop us doing groundwork’s and all the prep works before planning is signed off. With these temp stands I expect that’s the stuff that’ll take a long time so we should be able to make a good deal of progress before it gets signed off.

It'll be a brave person who sanctions the dismantling of the old stands before we've got pp for the new stand.

TG article in the programme today. Demolition of both stands will commence on Tuesday 9th May. We do not need pp to do that. South Stand has been a temporary structure for 20 years. SW stand is rented. I will try and copy the article on to the forum.

Swapped my ticket for a place on the Blackthorn today with a few old fairweather mates.
Cannot believe how much space there was, even with the first row not being allowed to be used.
I know that TG said he wanted fans to be comfortable and maybe it is a limit set by SAG but I can't believe that at least a few extra hundred spaces can't be "found" on that terrace, which could help to increase the total capacity even further.

Our official capacity registered with the EFL is 10,500. We impose less attendances on ourselves to improve comfort and space for those on the terraces, according to TG.
