Swapped my ticket for a place on the Blackthorn today with a few old fairweather mates. Cannot believe how much space there was, even with the first row not being allowed to be used. I know that TG said he wanted fans to be comfortable and maybe it is a limit set by SAG but I can't believe that at least a few extra hundred spaces can't be "found" on that terrace, which could help to increase the total capacity even further. Totally down to the SAG.
The killer was the "don't invade my personal space" clause in the guidelines.

Our visitors today secured their place in the play-offs last weekend, and we wish them well for the games to come. The play-offs are a great spectacle and I am sure, like me, you will all be sat at home enjoying seeing how the season plays out
Once again we are delighted to be welcoming you all to a sold-out Mem today, particularly for a game at this stage of the season where there isn't anything on the line. This intensifies our need to further improve our facilities and look for ways to increase our capacity. With that in mind, we were delighted to share the initial plans for the new South Standwhich will enable us to increase the overall capacity of The MemIt is a project that we have been looking into for some time...
The current South Stand was brought in on a temporary basis and it has since been in place for 20 years. In addition the current South West Stand is rented and both have the tented roof structures which we know are not popular with supporters
The new plan adds over 2,000 seats to our capacity, whilst also improving our ability to service supporters through a new concourse that will be created underneath the seating deck. The roof structure will be a solid steel structure and these improvements will also enable us to increase the number of accessible seats that we have available. Similarly to this season we will be looking to operate an efficient means of selling away tickets to visiting fans with a flexible segregation line that can be adjusted to minimise the number of empty seats. These changes will also mean that the big screen will move.
Work begins on Tuesday to clear the area and remove the existing stands and clear the area. After that we are on a tight schedule to get the work completed for the new season. Given the schedule, we have contingency plans in place should any delays occur. We will also be working with planning, building regs and our Safety Advisory Group (SAG) to ensure that the project runs as smoothly as possible and is signed off for supporter usage at the earliest opportunity.

Continuing post above from programme:
In addition to the investment in the stand, we are also investing in the pitch at The Mem, which has struggled to maintain the quality that we would have liked over the course of the season. This investment should help ensure that we have a top-quality surface to play on once again so we can produce the style of football that we all want to see.

TG article in the programme today. Demolition of both stands will commence on Tuesday 9th May. We do not need pp to do that. South Stand has been a temporary structure for 20 years. SW stand is rented. I will try and copy the article on to the forum. Surprised by the suggestion that work is proceeding before pp has been obtained.

I take your point but once it is approved by the planning committee . Then only an exspensive costly judicial review can stop the stand from opening . Then it's very unlikely a J.R will win as its about ' following the legal process correctly ' So the club can do all the groundwork and start building with confidence.

Please don't say our legal advisors have said it is watertight!

Surely the point is "once approved" as at the moment the application hasn't even been uploaded to the planning portal, the club seems months away from the plans being approved even if there are no major issues.

Surely the club need to keep them safe somewhere if the Planning Portal Police on here are correct and it all goes t1ts up?

Does the new stand mean we will lose the record for going the longest without building a new permanent structure at any of our grounds in the football league?
