Nothing but confidence from Rovers. Would be embarrassing if it was based on nothing but hope!

How can the planning application consultation period be coming to an end, when the application still hasn't been uploaded onto the planning portal? Some plans at present are taking up to a month just to be registered by BCC. The club announced weeks ago that the planning application had gone in, so unless there is a major problem with the planning system , interested parties should have been written to and the application advertised outside the ground. I am not sure about planning portals but anyone wanting to see the plans should be able to visit the planning office reception and ask to look at a copy and write in with there observations. Anyway that is how it used to / should work. The consultation period is 21 days. It's been mentioned on this thread that due to lack of funding there are delays with the planning system, as I've just posted it's taking around a month for plans to be validated and then appear on the planning portal, until they appear on the portal the 21 days consultation period will commence. The planning world has clearly moved on from residents having to visit planning offices and write in with their observations as everything now is done online via the portal, hence why we could see previously the nature of the local residents complaints regarding The Quarters expansion plans.

Something tells me that successfully gaining planning permission will be a bit of a formality. If not, I'll change my gender. Don't know which one yet. Loads to choose from these days.

But you do not have to make an application through a planning portal. But counsel's do have to except applications paper or electronically and they do have to make applications viewable by a visit , whether they like it or not.

Clearly applications can still be made using paper copy but in 2023 it’s not how most people operate and won’t be how the club will be operating (considering all previous applications for the Mem and Quarters over the past few years have been submitted electronically…). The club are confident (pre application advice which doesn’t get published) that this will be a formality but Topper is right - submissions at the moment to BCC are going into a big black hole and without validation no consultation period can start and the project cannot be determined by delegated powers or committee. Once it is validated everything will be uploaded to the planning portal online but as of today this hasn’t taken place. We've got projects that are awaiting determination 6 months after validation and counting. Not even been allocated an officer yet. Rovers have about 8 weeks to ascertain planning and build the thing… looking forward to seeing how they do it in this timeframe but if it doesn’t happen, you know why!

Griffin Park.Saw us win there ,Don Megson playing. Mem so needs better disabled facilities but not sure if the new stand will cater in any way for this.So chuffed the awful tent has now gone though.Roll on August. Griffin Park was my longest journey to football match circa. 1988. I came directly from Plovdiv (Bulgaria) via 2 coaches a plane and 2 tubes and met by mate in the toilets at half time.
On a gloomier note I was also there on the day of the Hillborough disaster.
I hope his name wasn’t George

Whilst there is a cynical side of my brain with all the lack of planning that’s visible on portals etc, the logical part of my brain says we wouldn’t go ahead with all of this without there being some direct conversations with people somewhere and someone actually managing this process. Would we?
It somewhat defeats the object of it all if it stands empty for a good part of the season whilst we are waiting for permissions and certificates.

I'm sure the club can request to the EFL that cat A games can be deferred to after Christmas if the stands isn't completed. The club could point out our average attandances were nearly 9000 with restrictions and probably would of been close to 10000 if allowed. The current capacity is likely to be around 8000 with only 700 away terrace places.
Our average is in the top 10 but teams like Peterboro Mk Oxford ( similar averages) can accomadate a lot more fans. On every level we can give good evidence why fixtures need to be deferred and I think the EFL would support us. The Governing bodies supported our fixture request over the Cheltenham saga.
The club must act fast if the planning process drags on and would need to make this written request very soon !.

The next meeting is on June 12th with agenda items coming out one week before. Once it's been published anyone is free to contact councillors direct asking them to support our plans. I always contact the Labour group who always support our plans and give positive feedback. The Tory group also link up and have always supported our plans. I'm hoping the Greens with a much bigger increase will be consistent in their pass media releases stating " We support the Memorial stadium as a historical site and community assett". I think it will fly through but the timescale could be an issue.

The likes of Gorringe are not stupid and not going to set themselves up for a hugely embarrassing fall, there must be stuff going on in the background that makes it a formality and risk free in respect of selling ST’s.

People involved knowing more than forum contributors. What's the world coming to? Anyway as I'm not ITK or in the corridors of power can I book my place in the 'concourse of fact' or something like that

You would have thought not even Rovers can mess this up, yet remember someone in an official capacity signed this off. Wouldnt be surprised if it comes out that Schofield was Santa...

I would just like to add, after reading my post, that we needed a meeting point and time (mobile phones has not been invented) and toilets at half time seemed the obvious arrangement, just in case you were wondering! Glad that you clarified that point!
