Martin Allen recently came out and said that he would be "mad" to sign anyone in January. Surely they'll go back on this with us strengthening. They'd have to be mad not to capitalize on this lead.

Doubt it, I don't think Mensah's loan ever was extended so I expect them to sign one more on loan.
I think he's got a point, but its about squad strengthening rather than replacement. Think about it, if Akinde gets injured or a couple of their players get suspended, what more do they have? A couple of new players would hardly harm their squad morale, just as I hope it wouldn't upset ours.
Barnet have an incredibly strong first XI and one which would probably deserve to win the league, but football tends to be a squad game.

Perhaps it's a way of pushing down agents/players wage demands MA "look we don't really want to sign xyz but here's an offer of £??, take it or leave it"
Although they could be strapped for cash given their low attendences even though they are top?

Does that apply when you have an apparently wealthy owner??

Mad Dog said he'd been given by the board but didn't want to strengthen. Putting it on a plate for us if there's any injuries at all. Fans saying that they only have a squad of 14 first teamers. When does the window close?

Something like the 3 Feb, but then the loan window opens anyway.

Right on cue, they've signed Michael Gash until the end of the season.
Didn't look too impressive for Nuneaton when we played them the other week but has a good scoring record at this level - not a bad signing for them.

Looked unfit to me and a tad on the heavy side, no thanks!

Speaking about his latest addition, head coach Martin Allen said: "He has got an attitude, there is no doubt about it, and I do not think it is always a good one. "He has got four months with us, that is it. I explained to him I needed cover for my two centre-forwards and the other one is injured. "I told him straight exactly what his position would be - it would be sub." Allen continued: "He had to understand and accept that and he has. He trained with us for two days because I wanted to make sure he could do the work that our players do." If anybody thinks I've made that up, I have not. www.times-series.co.uk/sport/11720472.Barnet_sign_Gash_on_short_term_deal/

"Welcome to Barnet Michael! You have absolutely nothing to earn by being here. Also I think you're a twat and will be using you as little as possible. Work hard now!"

He is just being straight with the bloke and trying to motivate the player so that he pushes himself to try and earn a longer contract after this season.

Not the kind of comments I expect to hear from a manager after signing a new player I must admit!

That is it...yes, unless he obviously proves himself so he can earn a longer stay there. It is obviously Allen's motivational technique and in all fairness it's not as if the bloke has a bad managerial record so I won't be arguing with his style of management too much.

In all my life I have never heard comments such as that from a manager announcing a SIGNING - not a departure.
All good and well saying that to his face, but to the press?? Absolutely mental.
"Aye up mate - welcome to club. Just so you know, I think you're f**king sh** and your attitude stinks. You'll be on the bench at most and, at the end of the season, we'll be bombing you out without a second thought. Even if our other striker was fit, you're not good enough - but thankfully for you, he's injured so we've literally no choice whatsoever but to bring you in. Cheers."

What one promotion in a managerial career spanning almost 12 years? I know who I'd rather have out of DC and MA
