There’s no way the brainless around me shouting at Belly, Beefy & Gibbo “FORRRRRWARDDDDS, JUST SMASH IT UP THEREEEE FOR GAWDS SAKE” have any incline about tempo or controlled possession😂 These lunatics last night are in panic mode at 2-0 and wanted the next 55mins to be hoofball straight up to 3 forwards who are (with the greatest respect) pretty useless in the air. The biggest mouthpiece of them all even commented how it’s never any good playing that “Tiki Taka” s**t, just get it up there. Literally the exact way we’ve played for the last 2 seasons🤦🏻 It is an interesting debate, there is more than one way to skin a cat, (who skins cats?) look at these stats from last night. Owls XG and shots higher but look at the passing stats! Great passing accuracy from our boys but was it effective? Crosses seem to be a thing of days gone by now too. View Attachmentthink I prefer our way of playing then what the likes of Derby and Wednesday have offered against us.

Bannon and Flint giving it large to the Family stand - complete anchors. Bannon ran over to the 'Family' stand to goad them, what a plonker.

OMG the match day thread is only 10 pages typical of… oh wait… that’s just an issue after we win. Never mind 🤣 In a strange way. It felt like a win last night. Came away with a spring in my step knowing that we were the better side in the 2nd half and the future looks good. Just gotta keep some of those players. Even Evans looked like he was coming back to his old ways of playing.

Would start him in a 4-2-3-1 on Saturday and play to our strengths. I get what Joey was trying to do yesterday. Nullifying them by matching up but it was spoilt by 2 defensive howlers and we couldn’t quite recover. Kept the wrong CB on too but I will assume that is to keep Liverpool happy.

The only team that has impressed me at home with hood football was Plymouth in the first half. Didn’t watch the Ipswich game but most of the top teams have been spoilers or very direct and physical. We need to add some to our game to get out of the division I guess

Did anyone else notice/hear at half-time the commentator guy (Keith? The other one, not the main guy), mentioned he'd heard Coutts is out for the season and likely to retire. It was along the lines of he'd heard Coutts won't be back this season and advised to stop playing.
Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere already.

Very frustrating evening, didn't think the owls are very good at this moment in time. Same old issues, very soft goals conceded, Quansah responsibile for both, first gave the ball away, second had to head the ball away from the corner, instead headed the ball into the air putting us under pressure. If the lad wants to be a central defender he needs to learn to head the ball, although he was up against an absolute lump. Connolly very unlucky to be substituted, thought he played quite well, as with Loft. Went more direct second half but with Loft off the pitch lost our aireal threat, Coburn wins nothing in the air. On the flip side, knocked the ball around OK, unlucky not to equalise, not much between the teams bar the mistakes. Agree with all this except for Loft -- Was he even on the pitch ? Quansah was better second half and Marquis should have started.

A fit Coutts is an asset, if not for us then certainly someone in league two.

A few weeks ago JB mentioned in his press conference that Paul Coutts is out for the rest of the season and is almost certainly played his last game for the gas he is out of contract in the summer

Didn't really notice last night, But watching the highlights Connolly looks like he is fouled by the player who scored their second. Marquis looks offside too for the disallowed goal.

He was brilliant in the second half of last season so he’s basically had a brilliant half a season and a season and a half of poor form , illness and injury. But that half a season was obviously massive for us because we were in great form and won promotion and he was captain. Good luck to him in the future.

Paul Coutts performance during Vale (A) in what was a must win game for us & a chance for them to all but secure automatic promotion, was one of the best I’ve seen of any player to wear the quarters in my 29 years. 10/10 in every department, our own ‘Keane Vs Juventus 1999’ if you like.
Slow start last season like everyone else (getting over covid etc…) but soon became an absolute colossus. Just a shame League One is effectively now a step too far for him.

Quansah was at fault for both goals so no doubt he was better second half. You could take any striker from non league and he would try hard, actually doing something of use is the issue not his effort. Loft is clearly not up to L1 standard at the moment, perhaps scoring goals on loan in L2 might give him some confidence.

A Wednesday fans comment from their fans forum on last nights match
Posted 18 hours ago We’ll play 10 times better than that and lose before the end of the season, that was awful beyond belief. I bet that mob earn 25% of what our players do and they battered us by and large. We may have scored more but every other area we were second best.

I've now seen 3 or 4 angles of Marquis disallowed goal and still can't discern whether he was on or off so frustrating the decision went against us, couldn't tell from the Thatchers last night but Marquis reaction (or lack of) suggested he also thought he was off.
Quansah really not good enough at this level and Sheffield Wednesday's defence in contrast to ours was the real difference I felt. Surely Quansah was only thrown straight back in to appease Liverpool? I can see his career mirroring Jake Clarke-Salter's who we had on loan from Chelsea a few years back.

Question marks over Lofty, Quansah, but no mention of Coburn? Lads been woeful since turn of the year. Game after game.

Not related but Shrews only had three outfield subs last night none of whom had any first team experience. Muff took over a 1000.
