Belshaw should have saved that Smashed in through a crowd of 10 players from 10 yards. Should a keeper save a penalty from further out with a clear view of the shot ? Or here’s another one …. Marquis seems to step back as the pass is made, he could be just offside when the pass is made but you just know any borderline decision would go Wednesday's way rather than ours last night. I guess what's disappointing is that we never created any further chances after the disallowed goal. |

Loft worked just as hard as anyone else last night. Quansah was at fault for both goals so no doubt he was better second half. You could take any striker from non league and he would try hard, actually doing something of use is the issue not his effort. Loft is clearly not up to L1 standard at the moment, perhaps scoring goals on loan in L2 might give him some confidence. Using my eyes Loft isn’t a particularly great player - he doesn’t make good runs, has a poor touch, doesn’t hold the ball up very well and underperforms in the air for a player of his size. If you then look at his stats and see he’s only scored about 20 goals when he’s already 25 years old it doesn’t paint a good picture. Having said that his attitude and work rate is good and I’m happy to have him as a fourth choice striker to occasionally throw on for a bit of nuisance value when chasing a game. |

I think JB is trying to create a plan B team. The first half team was that attempt. The 2nd half team is what the current squad is about.
In this league, we have been d1cked over many, many times by organised, dark arts teams. Indeed, we got beaten more often than not by lesser teams who know percentages.
If we want to get out of this league we WILL need to have players who can score from headers at set pieces. We will need players who can defend like Steve elliot. We can’t go on getting 70% possession and losing to scrappy goals.
Every goal we get feels like really hard work. We have to basically Barca it into the net. Other teams just lump it, one two and we are a goal down.
The plan B team isn’t good enough. We need a more balanced squad and sadly, Loft and the current defence aren’t good enough. The midfield is the only part of the side I feel needs no additions.

Given Coutts & Whelan are unlikely to be playing next season and Bogarde may well not return and we've no real idea whether Ward will still be here or whether Rossiter will have finally returned to fitness I can't see CM needs no additions. The McCormick situation needs also to be resolved, either JB plays him or he needs to move.

Not related but Shrews only had three outfield subs last night none of whom had any first team experience. Muff took over a 1000. Muff had 1000 subs, wow what's their wage bill like? |
