Worked out well for Mark Mghee ( sorry to have to mention his name). I think what you say used to be the case but I don't think so any more. How many managers in the Prem or football league have managed in Scotland? Are there any? Are there any??? Only the most successful manager English football has ever seen 👍🏾 I think they were asking whether there are presently any managing in England. AF retired 10 years ago.

Apart from Aberdeen under Ferguson and Dundee Utd no other team apart from the Glasgow 2 have won the league in 60 years and only a handful in 130 years. The rest of the teams are mostly clubs who would be League 2 size at best. The 2 Edinburgh clubs and Aberdeen maybe Championship size clubs at a push but it would be a completely backwards step for any English manager with any ambition to head north of the border.

Ah, in that case agreed, I think it’s not down to the nationality tho, it’s mainly down to the difference in finances, the English game is the richest in the world and miles ahead of the Scot’s regards money 👍🏾

More to the point would Hearts ever risk appointing JB as their manager? Hearts are hardly a massive club with a big reputation at stake. I wish we had as crap a record as Hearts.

I think the premier league shifted English football to the international stage. Before that Scottish players and managers did feature heavily.

If you’re a championship manager I don’t think you go to manage in Scotland outside the top 2. But you might if you’re a league 1-2 manager the lure of qualifying for Europe and doing a decent job in the league and Europe would lead to better jobs. Obviously that’s a big if for a Scottish team outside the top 2 but that is what ambition is trying to be a success outside the norm. 🤷♂️
