Not sure why some on here are so upset. We're safe; it's time to experiment and see who's up for it next season and who needs to be shipped out. So hopefully JB has learnt something about that. It's a rare opportunity for any of our managers to do this since we always seem to be on the verge of promotion or relegation and can't normally risk this sort of thing. I do admit that it's not satisfactory for those who travelled all that way, but it's a dead time of the season for us when results don't matter. Were not Scunthorpe slated for experimenting with their team against us last season ? Seem to recall almost everybody here saying Scunthorpe hadnt fielded a weakened side. Results do matter. People are paying money. If results dont matter i suggest Rovers fans dont go to anymore games this season. Save your money. I've now decided I won't be wasting my money going to Shrewsbury, as JB suggesting he's now going to "experiment" in the final games reads to me that he'll now be spending out weakened sides. Let's hope he at least picks a strong side for the final home game of the season.

Two of those are out of contract the other three have not had a run of games. Maybe he will experiment with formation.

JB will now be looking to see who stays and who goes in the summer, and it’s probably going to result in some inconsistency, but it’s up to the players he picks to show him why they deserve to stay
He should know realistically whether we have a chance of bringing back the loans, if they will not be here next season then for me it’s time to play those that might be
I’d love us to go all out and sign Gibson and test Stoke for Taylor
Building a solid defence for next season would put us in a good position
Having Hoole, Taylor, Gibson, Beefy and Flash would mean only minor tweaks needed
Up top we could well be looking at 3 new additions. I would take Coburn again and look to replace Loft
Play McCormick now every game til the end and say show me why I keep you next season

I don’t get to many games but that is the worst I have seen is play since the start of last season. I was thinking of going to Peterborough but I’ll keep my money in my pocket.
Re Coburn and the comment above re next season. Not sure what has happened to him since the new year but he looks a shadow of the player from the autumn. Little better than Loft. This isn’t to single him out from yesterday as no one played well. Not sure I’d have him back next season but what do I know. He’ll probably score in every game from now on.

Do you really think if a squad player like McDonald plays well in a game before the end of the season, then that's going to be the difference between him being released or offered a new contract?
How can this season's back 4 be good enough for a promotion push, Connolly, like Coburn, has been poor since the turn of the year and our current form must be bottom 6.
Taylor played the whole game for Stoke yesterday:
Connor Taylor
A bold but too often reckless performance. Happy to gallivant into Cardiff’s half, but conceded the penalty after chopping down substitute Jaden Philogene in the box. 6.

Only scored when Azza was on fire and since then he can’t trap a ball for toffee and has made very little impact.

But if you don’t give people like Jed a chance in dead rubbers you never will UTG!

We'll play plenty of pre-season friendlies to give players like Ward game time, odd Belshaw had to miss out again yesterday, I wonder if he'll be off this summer and we'll then live to regret his departure.

I don’t agree with this, pre season friendlies are not the same as what Jed experienced yesterday. It would have been good for the lad, as for Belly who knows! I bet he was mighty watered off with Joey after the dodgy loan keeper came in, but he’s not the first and he certainly won’t be the last.

Remember when we had good strikers and now and then they’d bag you one and dig you out of a hole? Doesn’t happen bả Collins earlier this year. I don’t think coburn, loft or Marquis are what’s required to be a top 6 team. Marquis I would keep about for impact but we need much better players up front. Coburn’s main impact at present is to regularly get muscled off the ball. And do very little else. If we keep him, I hope he improved. Not particularly impressed. He’s not bad Peter Beadle, Barry Harles and even Tom Nichols he ain’t

You frequently find promoted clubs and players who do better first half of the season ,struggle later . Its sometimes a case of clubs getting enough data to snuff out your threats and punish your weaknesses.
A club and manager if they stay up then has to build quickly on what they have or can find themselves in trouble the following year.
Rovers certainly need a few players who are strong in the air if they are to progress to being a top ten club next year.

In our case it was a shocking January where JB seemingly couldn't attract the quality players he needed to keep the good run going, let's hope he does better this summer.

Frustratingly we are hamstrung with a number of under performers who are on fat contracts probably stuck with them.
None of Connolly - McCormick - Finley ( since return) - Loft would get into Argyles side for example … none are good enough for a top six push.
Of the loanees … only Gibson and Bogarde are worth a return. Gibson ideally as a permanent.
Throw in Anderson - And those leaving like Coutts and Jaakkola and if JB and Wael are serious we need a massive rebuild.
CB x2 maybe 3 3x Midfield - a mix of grit and flair 2x Strikers maybe 3
In reality another season of progress next season - top 10 would be a job well done given the debris we are stuck with.

It will be his own debris!! I wouldn’t be writing off Beefy and McCormick just yet We need a big experienced CB or maybe Taylor to form a settled pair We aren’t a million miles off, but of course the big issue of the summer will be the story of Collins, our biggest asset Will he stay and if not how much is he worth and will we re-invest?? How many of this season's L1 top 10 sides have an entire defence with an average age of around 21? It's baffling why JB can't sign some experienced defenders.

I agree to an extent Topper, but overall his judgement of a young player has been pretty spot on The key is to sign players who you can mould over a few seasons, the problem we have at the moment is that our centre backs are continually loans and you are always rebuilding in the summer At some point JB has to trust his judgement and sign potential to coach some stability In my opinion Taylor and Connelly worked as a partnership, although if Gibson is available I’d love him to sign UTG
