Gave the Mrs and a mate a lift into town earlier as they're going to the Hippodrome and was making small talk with the Mrs' mate and turns out she works in HR and succession planning for Nandos.
Anyway turns out a site on their radar for expansion is at the Fruit Market, now I assumed this would be part of the wider development as I think they generally base themselves on monotonous retail parks, but no actually this planned site is IN THE STADIUM (it turns out in stadium sites are a big part of their expansion plans as people nowadays want more than a quick pie and Bovril), so yeh admittedly I'd never met this bird until 40 mins ago but seems quite a convoluted story to make up!

Nando’s occupy rented spaces on retail parks that are usually part of massive investment portfolios, pensions and such like. How could they plan to occupy a unit that hasn’t even got planning yet let alone a blueprint?

No idea mate, all I know is this lady is heavily involved in identifying and training future store and regional managers for new shops and apparently a big part of their expansion plans are concessions in sports venues and music arenas and the like. |

In all seriousness plenty to discuss here.
If this is true then the stadium really does seem like a goer.
But on the flip side what does this mean for fan zones? I’d much rather the catering in the fan zone than chains.

This women's role is specifically in succession planning so I imagine it's very relevant she knows about future store openings. I agree with the poster above that I'd much rather local businesses occupy any kind of fanzone, but from a business point of view I imagine the developer is going to favour a company like Nandos who can sign up to a long term lease rather than a local supplier that presumably pays for their stall on a game by game basis. |

I imagine this person has misunderstood slightly and assumed the new potential ‘stadium’ is more akin to an arena/indoor venue, like London’s 02 or the print works in Manchester etc..
Or there’s substance to it and they’ll just build one right outside like MK Fc have? Just can’t imagine for life of me there will be a restaurant chain located INSIDE a football ground.
