Another revealing bbc radio Bristol interview tonight on Having a Gas
Barton saying if Rovers don't make the championship in two years he is leaving to take up golf.
Said he is fed up with managing in league one.

Hyperbole. Said a lot of this in his first full season with us.
He managed to get us promoted though and I reckon he’ll do it again

Don’t mind hearing his ambition but there is a lot of waffle!
He either gets us challenging around the play offs or moves on.
Good chance we could finished in the position he took us over in if we don’t get another point this season. (18th weren’t we?)
Hoping we can get some exciting news about stands, signings and stadiums soon!

Going to be tough Joe. The potential clubs coming down will all fancy their chances of going up again. Then you've got 4 of Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Bolton, Derby and Peterborough. Plus Portsmouth and Charlton will all have bigger budgets than us. Leyton Orient will have serious momentum and if Bradford win the play offs that's another big club. I'd love a play off push but I think top 10 with our current stadium would be a good season.
Pretty impressive that Barton got Fleetwood to the play offs in 2020. It was arguably weaker then though. Wycombe and Oxford made the play offs. Sunderland finished 8th, Ipswich 11th and Bolton 23rd! We were up there at Xmas with a fairly average team! Plus the season was curtailed due to covid and decided on points per game, so you may have seen late runs from Sunderland and Ipswich?
We have shown at times that we can compete with the big boys. We need a bit more luck with injuries, an improved home record and some greater consistency to have a chance.

Just his way of saying 'i want to get this club into the championship and it will be frustrating if i/we can't do it over the next couple years' ,nowt wrong with that but IMHO it will take a bit longer than two years, hope he sticks around and makes it,eventually!

Good on him . Nothing worse than a manager/chairman/fan base happy to stagnate or not move forward.
He’s putting pressure on himself and the board .

Don't really see what the problem is myself, he's trying to convey his ambition for us and him. Hopefully both in tandem.
A decent South Stand, genuine progress on the FM and Phase 2 of The Quarters would have us in a reasonable place in two years.
