When i saw the headline i assumed it was another case of Barton doing the opposition’s team talk for them - but having read the article i thought it made a fair bit of sense and was well meant.

I wonder how his squad feel about being told that having L1 on their CV is embarrassing?
He just doesn't know when to put a sock in it. You just never know when the next unfortunate comment is coming. But that's ok, because he's managed to get us to the same position in L1 that we were when he took over, so all's well.

That's not the way I see it. Rather, our players having lg2 on their CV would be embarrassing. He's actually praising JCH and saying he's better than this level. As for his performance..do we have any genuine Championship level players in our squad? How many top lg1 players do we have? Our training ground. Is that good for this level? The coaches, salary, backroom, surroundings.. Where should we be? |

I suspect if any other manager in League 1 started making judgements about Aaron Collins then some of us would be mightily jarred off that another manager was talking about a player in our team in such depth.
Anyway let’s hope we can beat Shrewsbury by at least two goals and overtake them in the table. Finishing in the top half would be some achievement.

'Large swaths of gasheads hate him'? i beg to differ, i believe a small minority dislike him intently, a sizable chunk think he walks on water and a big majority are prepared to give him a chance and judge him in the roll the club pay him for.
Personally i believe JB has worked very hard and sought help to control excesses that have got him into trouble in the past and that is to his credit, i can't see that he has let Bristol Rovers down since joining us ,he has played a part improving the club off field , on field we have had a season of consolidation and over the next two/three seasons we will see if JB has what it takes to be a very good manager. I wish him well and fervently hope he can take Rovers to the next level. Every thing he says is scrutinised by those waiting for an oppertunity to chastise him and he does give some ammunition to those who wish to interpret comments certain ways, football is littered with such characters, from Shankly, Clough, and co to Ollie and the like, as for the Teds, who cares what they think , they need something to wake them up having to listen to the cure for insomnia that is monosyllable N.P, up the JB and Rovers!

Agree it is a small minority - but like a lot of things in this country the small minority are usually the most vocal and think they represent the majority !! |
