The retained list is going to be interesting, from those that started tonight I'd certainly think Gordon & Finley will be a big part of next years squad. I think we've got a lot of work to do if we're serious about challenging We need more experience for sure. I like the squad we have but it’s so young and has zero knowledge of the dark arts bar perhaps Finley. And we need width and pace , with Anderson and Sinclair the only two wide attacking players at the club the squad is very central and very predictable to play against as we saw tonight until the subs came on and gave us width. Barton has built a squad that’s dug himself tactically in to a hole. Equally a squad that has kept us up, really with out infrastructure could we survive in the Championship? And I’m no Barton fan.

Top priority is getting Grant Ward to sign a new deal, best player on the pitch tonight. Really good player I hope he signs for next season

As usual, don’t see this much energy when we bag the 3 points.
No sniping, just Gas forum facts😄

What infrastructure did Wycombe have or have Luton got? Although we're miles away from being a top 6 side anyway.

2 points from our last 6 outings is a bit of a watertake to our supporters. Good job we had a good lead up to Xmas as we’d be in all sorts of bother.

We should have won tonight no doubt, but in the grand scheme of things it makes no difference. Hopefully Joey knows who has a future here and who doesn't and will make us a greater force next season, which will still be in L1.

As usual, don’t see this much energy when we bag the 3 points. No sniping, just Gas forum facts😄 I'm surprised at all the negative comments. I'm no Barton fan, but that's a separate topic really. He's doing what he can do and has the luxury to do. The result is irrelevant, but the learning points are, or could be, invaluable for next season. No point in playing his strongest side. He knows all about them and they are safe. No point in playing the kids. They won't be regulars next season. This stage of the season is to give the might-be players a chance to show if they are worth retaining or not. On the evidence of tonight, maybe not many last chancers have shown themselves worthy. But that's fine. JB has the information he needed. Shame we lost, but it's not really as important as the bigger picture of planning for next season.

Shrewsbury are awful … yet they are comfortably out playing us. Thirty five minutes to see what the proper team can muster… Really don’t want Quansah back - amazing he plays for England. No. They never “outplayed” us. They had one decent move for the second goal which the lad took well but both goals were defensive mistakes. But we controlled most of the match but were unable to create much in the first half and when we did in the second half their keeper became their MOM. Frustrating esp as they were such a poor team but a typical end of season match when many players couldn’t be assed. UTG!

We need to get rid of this soft underbelly. Teams have to work a lot less to score a goal than we do

The guy who scored and had our only other decent chance apart from Ward's long range effort? He's a damn sight better than Marquis and, where's the goal, Loft. Correct. Never stopped running and put in a great shift. Yes he missed a few but he is always making himself available for those balls played along the ground. He had a good game. Imo, of course. 😉 UTG!

As usual lots of possession but the same thing thats been letting us down since Christmas, not ruthless enough and not taking chances.
Before the new year I think we were 3rd or 4th top scorers in the Division, we also had the 3rd or 4th worst Defensive record which I think we still do, but we were putting chances away and scoring goals.
Since January after the Morecombe drubbing we have tightened up at the back, however we've only scored 18 in our last 21 games, compared to the 39 in the first 24 games.
Collins and Coburns goals have dried up significantly.
It's a strange one as although we've tightened up at the back, I wouldn't say we're ultra defensive, we're still creating plenty of chances.
I don't think we're a million miles off where Joey wants us to be.
There's still plenty to be upbeat about, we've had Collins voted the Leagues player of the season, we've mostly competed well against the best teams in the Division, draws against Plymouth, Ipswich, Wednesday, Barnsley, Bolton and Derby proves we can match them.
We've still got a chance of being the best placed out of the promoted teams as well.
So all in all not a bad first season back in League 1.

As either the management team failed to identify the quality players we needed or they did and they chose other clubs. JB should stop talking nonsense about a top 6 challenge and just set the target of finishing top of the smaller clubs in 11th. Once we achieve that then we can look to break into the top 10. Plus why is there such a difference in our performances against the top 10 sides compared to the bottom 10, that's got to be becoming from his management not just the players deciding whether to turn up or not.

Was it really the players in the first hour not good enough or the tactics were simply hopeless, they were really set up to fail in that first hour. Loft for example would have probably looked a different player with Collins and Sinclair on the pitch.

God there are some miserable gits on here, good effort Rovers by far the better team even though we lost It's just amazing...we lost..again, but you contend "that's ok" you're exactly the sort of person I would expect to moan, that's all you do

Enough experimenting now.
Leaving Hoole out for so many games (who should be a candidate for player of the season) doesn't make any sense.
Loft starting so many games is baffling now as well. Granted none of our other strikers have really looked like scoring lately, but he is the worst of the four. I would also rather Sinclair ahead of him.
Even if Quansah is available for loan again next season, surely we can get someone better? and unless JB is seriously considering signing Balcombe who certainly isn't any better than Belshaw then why is he playing?

My guess, Belshaw not playing to save any possible injuries maybe, I think after that 1st half display he's probably found out for sure which players he wants to keep now, probably saving our best for the Bolton game
