Is it just me but Quansah is following the same way as Clarke-Salter, clearly talented but not up to the rough and tumble of League 1! He has clearly been at fault for a fair number of our goals. He will be a fine player, I'm sure but we need someone who can play out and head the ball. Personally I preferred Bobby Thomas !

Glad I'm not the only one to think this.

Tbf it doesn't help when the rest of the back 4 are all still kids themselves. He would benefit greatly from a Mark Mchrystal, Tony Craig type just like Tom Lockyer did. He's highly rated at Liverpool and was voted in the team of the tournament when England U20's won the Euros last year, that England squad featured City's Alex Scott and 4 or 5 players that have made Premier League appearances. It's all part of the learning experience.

League one is a physical league, you'll get teams like Shrewsbury who will try to impose themselves, last night no disrespect to him but he struggled with it. But it is a good learning curve for him & i am sure he will come good as he develops more.

He's going to be a top player, he's playing in one of the worst teams in L1 defensively that doesn't help. He's made mistakes but that's what he's here for.

May have all the skills but not the right stuff for this division. Our problem area and will be next season unless the boss changes his philosophy of not being able to teach old dogs new tricks

He seems to have gone backwards since he came here, when you really would expect him to get better and better like Connor did last season.

Agree with op.
We've wasted a season on the hypnotism of a premier club off loading their youth to man up.
...in hindsight (but many felt it at the time) we needed a great big hairy @ssed experienced bruiser at the back at this level.

JCS was a young player when here like Quansah and I’m sure Quansah will have a good career probably in the Championship like JCS has had with Birmingham and now QPR. And of course young players make mistakes and lack consistency. The trouble for us fans is that the PL clubs want our club to iron out weaknesses and prepare them for life perhaps in the PL. For them it’s all about getting their players appearances irrespective of results (hence the pantomime over Balcombe). Players at Chelsea and Liverpool must be the best of the best at their ages so if they come from there we know that they will be good, technically. It’s only when they start playing against some wily old pros that they realise the hard realities of pro football. And tbh it can’t have been good for Quansah to have had all the drama about the goalkeeper back in February and March. Let’s face it all season we’ve had a very young back 3 or back 4 and JB has sometimes appeared undecided about whether to play with a back 3 or 4.I think Quansah has done ok, not spectacular good enough for a first loan out. I bet he does better next season wherever he lands up at because he will have learnt from this season.
That we depend upon loans so much probably tells us more about where we are as a club at the moment and where football in general is compared to the Billy Big Boll** of the PL. A sign of the times.
UTG!

With his pace and an eye for a pass he could well develop into a better player than JCS if he stays injury free. Our problem is that we've probably got him a season or two too early, as both Gibson and Bobby Thomas are a couple(?) of years older.

Agree with pretty much all on here … this lad could do very well in the game and will soon forget his time in L1 with us.
Reminds me at times of Trent Alexander - Arnold the way he moves and equally in his defensive mistakes.
I wonder how well he might do sitting in front of a back four - distribution is pretty good and he is not frightened to put his foot in.
If he stays at CB needs to get time in the gym and bulk a little bit.

Read my post and you’ll see the word ‘probably’. And of course you’ve more or less agreed with what I said: you don’t know how young players develop and Quansah is very young, on his first loan. UTG!

Like the OP you are comparing him directly with JCS who's only a Championship player, either you agree with that view or like me feel he's a better prospect for his age.

RE: the OP
Not at all. Quansah is diamond and will play prem if he develops to his potential. I don't think JCS had that potential. He was a reasonable footballer but Quansah can go very far.
Above aside- the loan market of under 20s is risky. There's a fine line to being an absolute steal (Anderson) and a rookie learning his trade (Quansah). We probably need to take these risks given budgets compared to other league one clubs.
I'd love to see the boy back.

If a young forward misses a chance then, although important perhaps not vital, if a defender esp CH or a keeper make a mistake a goal may follow. Every mistake Quansah has made (or even Balcombe) is highlighted whereas if a midfielder or forward makes an error it may not be as vital. Add that to playing in a higher league this season and the expectation of loanees rise enormously. Comparing Quansah with Taylor or any of the loanees last season isn’t making a fair comparison. And I agree, I’d have Quansah back, he will be more experienced and stronger next season. UTG!

The boy has immense talent and potential and can go all the way. I expect to watch him on Match of the Day regularly one day.

Quansah is very raw, questionable positioning at times, passing not great, not a very good header of the ball. At times he looks quick, but got absolutely roasted for the second goal last night. Want the lad to do well and maybe he will develop quickly but not been very impressed with what I've seen.

Il confidently predict he will play in the prem. He's got everything I've been very impressed. Yes he's made mistakes but they will iron out over the next couple of years. Connor Taylor made mistakes regularly last season they just went unnoticed on the whole due to him getting away with them as we weren't punished. I remember orient away in particular when he made about 4 mistakes in a row and was having a torrid time first half.
