Some ego thinking it would’ve all been about him mind. Exactly what I thought. I saw on the other thread he backed out the night before. Did he only just realise then that gasheads hate him?

Does he actually call himself Matty, everybody calls JB Joey but apparently he likes to be called Joe. Well it says Matty on his Instagram No difference to Bob or Bobby and many other such names. Most of us get nicknames or called something different to our real names, it’s all a bit formal if you know someone and call them by their real name, all of the time, or at least that is how i see it. As long as it doesn’t offend, i don’t see why it should bother anyone. I think there are a few Matthew Taylors in sport so maybe he has done this to make it easier on searches ?

Not that I ever saw. Like I said though, it appears to be one of the finest Gaschat facts. Lee Johnson had to move house after his address was made public if that’s what is being referred to, but even then he didn’t have any attack on the property, but he was sent death threats which is pretty disgusting and pathetic. If you did see any info referring to Matty Taylor’s house being attacked and windows put through, then I will happily and wholeheartedly apologise if I’m wrong! Didn’t happen. My mum was his next door neighbour. He got some anti social stuff but nothing broken I remember. I turned up the day Ellis Harrison was loading his possessions into the removal van with him tho as he obviously didn’t feel that safe (and could afford somewhere better!) Told him not to injure our other striker. I don’t know if true or not but it was said he moved 3 times, can anyone shed any light on this ? He was very scared when he first came back to the mem and was subbed off. Anyone could see that

Anyone could see that MT was subbed off because he sustained an injury, whilst it looked a bit suspicious he was out for a number of games afterwards, so you have to assume it was a genuine injury.

Anyone got any video links to that game? That was the most abuse I’ve seen any player take at the mem!

Fully warranted, I watched him throw a punch/forearm smash to the back of Alfie’s swede as he ushered the ball out of play, right on the touchline in front of us on the East. Somehow the ref and Lino who were yards away were not interested. Vile little rat.

My view is that Taylor used to be a fantastic striker - real poacher, great movement, decent speed, creative and consistent finishing… However, that was a few years ago and in his last year or 2 he has seemed to go off the boil… he’s returns have slowed up, his impact in games lessened and his all round game has plateaued. His stint at Port Vale with Ellis (which on paper should have been really deadly) was disappointing. Personally I think he’s now a solid League 2 striker and would expect him to go to a higher end League 2 side - Wrexham, Salford - someone of that ilk who will be bigger payers.
In League 1 I think there is better and also better value imho…. so it would be a pass from me

I remain very, very grateful to Matty Taylor and the part he played in two promotions and taking us to the edge of League 1 play offs by Jan ‘17. If in the Summer 2014 someone had said what would happen I think I would have shrugged and thought who cares where he goes, ‘we are back in the FL…..’ I would have accepted the bad with the good. I don’t particularly blame him for improving and protecting his family by going for the increased salary. Loads have done it. It showed our neighbours for what they are and MT didn’t come out if it very well. But I think he was manipulated by other. But then I don’t live in Bristol and the other half are never thought about. Who cares.
But I get it about others caring and there’s no way now I would want him back. He’s dropped levels very quickly although he may score well again. But not in League 1. Our needs have changed we don’t want a prolific Conference striker nor a prolific League 2 striker. We need higher. And for purely football reasons we need better so it’s a no from me.
Financially he will be better off from what he has done and I never thought of him as being someone who’d thrive particularly after football. (I don’t honestly know but that was the impression I got) Perhaps he will. When playing us he always looked a bit worried, not really knowing what was coming next which was why he gave it big when he scored. He never enjoyed playing us whereas some players thrive in the negativity. Not MT. And I bet there’s a part of him that regrets what he did, financially ok but not seen as an honourable man by anyone and someone who won’t be able to really bask in the adoration of former fans like so many can. He was known at City for the wrong reasons and you’d have thought Oxford would praise him but he even did the dirty on them in ‘16. FGR seem a possibility.
UTG!
