In this instance Higgs and the Board have kept their word about strengthening in January. Credit where it's due.

And of course Daryl said he wanted to bring in 3 or 4 players during the window. He is a man on a mission who knows what and who he wants, so I fully expect another 1 or 2 additions to the squad before the end of the month. I don't expect there to be any hints dropped, he doesn't work like that but there will be an unexpected announcement that the squad has been strenghtened.
I just hope that the board recognise the value of DC and are seeking to tie him to a long-term deal ASAP.

Luck and chemistry. Thank god DC is doing well

Thank god DC is doing well I know exactly where you are coming from, Dins, but we are at a key stage and have to seize the moment. Second with 16 games to go and a chance of being just three points behind Barnet if Grimsby can turn them over at the weekend and we win at Woking. All ifs and buts, I know, but we don't want to be saying 'if only' at the end of the season.

Im not saying we should not make signings just that the success is DCs largely as the board have not changed anything in how they run the club. The review that should have been never was.
DC has been very mature and decent in putting the clubs long term needs ahead of his career which very few managers do. By this i mean the wages and contracts and type of player. He could have gone out and blown the budget on 3 big names but has been cautious and thoughtfull..

Lets be honest you are stating the obvious that success on the field is largely down to the manager. The board have backed all the managers we have had and managed to keep the creditors from the door, this seems to be a reasonable effort in a world where almost every football club spends more than they receive - this is a problem the FA need to address with tighter financial controls - much of the failing in the finances of the game are down to them. Higgs seems to measure his success on delivering the stadium and even much of that is out of his control, we went from a position of supermarkets scrabbling for building sites to where we are now pretty quickly, but the basic plan was a good one by the board.
