If anything they are probably more strict than state schools, hence the results they achieve.Being a bit of a lefty I'd be surprised if he sends his kids to private school rather than the best school around. Plus the fact that pupils usually have to pass an entrance exam and interview to get a place. Depends upon the Public School. Some you can join at birth and get a place whatever their intellectual standard. Some of the best you may have an exam but the vast majority it will be the size of your parents’ wallet that determines a place or not. Anyone with enough money will find a Public School if they want one. And don’t confuse Public Schools with excellent results. Many Comprehensive Schools will do far better than many Public Schools in GCSEs and A Levels. The very top ones, Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Shrewsbury and a few more will have excellent results but many, the vast majority, will not out-perform Comprehensives. Although of course there are good and bad of each kind of school. Many parents will choose Public Schools because it fits into their life styles, parents abroad, perhaps in the army and travelling about so a Public School will give some permanency to those children. UTG!

The entrance exam is mum and dad agreeing to meet the school fees, although JB's kids are all youngsters anyway. I think quite a lot of the independents use the 11 plus exam, so are wanting Grammar school standard intake. There are of course exceptions, Millfield focus on sports ability, although I've known non sporting kids who, as you say, have got in there because their parents can afford the fees. I read an article a while ago which stated that a large percentage of graduates taken on by the big 4 accountancy firms had a private education prior to Uni. Sorry, I've digressed a bit from pre-season - we need some signings to discuss! Yes,I did that with the cricket. But I don’t feel too bad about it, there’s nothing else happening! 😉 UTG!

It didn't seem that long ago we were thrashing Brentford's first team. Hopefully the last pre-season fixture the club announces won't be Luton B team at home!

Romeo Beckham played for Brentford B last season, don't know if he's still there.
