Probably about his level.
Nice kid but not a league footballer.

Remember when it was quoted we were signing a classy ball playing centre half. How wrong that was..

I actually thought he was quite classy with the ball he was just chock full of clangers.
I can’t help feel a special dislike of every single member of that squad, Wriddlington, all of them. In fact the one I dislike the least was Garner who I felt to some extent was a fall guy for the abysmal recruitment.

Once scored in a 4-2 win against former European Cup Winners Feyenoord.
Something to tell the grandkids about.

We always return to that awful 20/21 season whatever! I thought Harries was ok and tried to play football from the back. Unfortunately he couldn’t concentrate for a full 90 minutes and there were too many errors in his play. Like many he’ll have to re-build his career from the National League. Good luck to him. (And I bet that team would have been better if the recruitment hadn’t stopped after getting defenders and midfielders. We never really got attackers did we? It just made sure we were always under pressure which we couldn’t deal with over the full 90 minutes.)
UTG!

Can you imagine JB just leaving EJ to sign all the players he takes a fancy to with no input.

A lot of the players weren't actually bad players
There was just no heart, spirit, tenacity, teamwork and togetherness. It was just a very poor team collectively.
A lot of that team are still playing at the same level, a couple in the Scottish Premier League and some playing reguarly for decent clubs in League 2.
Luke Leahy and Brandon Hanlan are still decent League 1 players, Josh Grant and McCormick still with us, Ali Koiki will be in League 1 this season and was arguably the best full Back in League 2 last year, Tutonda, Max Ehmer and Alfie Kilgour are at decent League 2 clubs and Jack Baldwin and Jonah Ayunga are playing in front of 60k fans at Celtic Park and Ibrox twice each
It wasn't a squad full of absolute dross.
Just for whatever reason it was just a pathetic team collectively.

Just for whatever reason it was just a pathetic team collectively. This. One thing that season taught me is that football is part a skill based game but it’s bigger than that. I always erred very much on the side of ability and when people claimed “players had no heart” I always thought this was more an ego thing ie “Our players are good enough they just didn’t try hard enough!” What that season taught me is that humans are smart monkies, we are animals and the game is played with the mind. Just as men in battle years ago would have been roused by a great king rising from the field and leading his men forward, football needs men with balls, (or to appease the woke who are legion here, women with balls, or ovaries if you will!) Humans are animals and we have a hierarchical structure and you need strong willed leaders. This is worth more than ability. Roy Keane? Taught me a lot that season did. It’s not about stats. You need that but you need some leaders. The majority of soldiers in battle, after seeing their mates heads blown off, dither and wilt. It’s fairly well documented. They’ve been found with bags full of ammo, where they’ve not known what to do so they fuss and just do repetitive actions. A small percentage of people keep a cool head and can form a plan, and find a strategy to come out alive. These small percentage of people are what’s needed. Football is no different. When the chips were down that squad had no idea what to do, they were beaten men. Sorry for the “Gareth from the office” military analogies but I think there’s great parallels between warfare and sport. In fact I think that most sport, team sport, is a surrogate for warfare for modern societies.
