Hash browns a must have or not necessary ? It’s a yes from me !
I make the best fry up ….. decent sausages (2) , thick smoked back bacon rashers (2) , fried egg that’s perfectly cooked (1) , hash browns (2) , baked beans, fried mushrooms, black pudding slice (1) , fried tomatoe (1) , fried (proper) bread (2 half’s cut diagonally) . Massive mug of hot tea .

Myself and my friend as a treat sometimes stop at Scooby Snacks Van at Cribbs, I have bacon roll but my friend swears by the Breakfast French Stick, apparently drivers come off of the M5 especially to stop there when travelling north/south 👍🏾

Also Teatro Lounge and if you need a quick sandwich the H & H van by Asda is excellent.

Olive and fig by Asda bedminster has to be best breakfast in Bristol - chef special breakfast
If you like large portions can’t fault Gillian’s cafe in fishponds, just make sure you get take away and not eat in as you come out stinking of grease.

FACT: Mums make th best breakies , end thread. Minor criticism: I’d like more distance between the egg and the beans. I might want to mix them, but I want that to be my decision. Otherwise a solid effort.

If you want to see a decent, obscene sized fry up (and every other types of grub) get annihilated in record times, check out ‘beardmeatsfood’ on YouTube.
Lads a legend.

Here’s a development of this. What should be in a fry up?
I’d say:
Sausage Bacon Eggs (fried) Fried bread (agree with Oldie, it’s the only way) Tinned tomatoes drained of juice and piping hot Mushrooms Hash brown (I am a fan but these I seem to recall being quite a modern incorporation. About the 90s? Can older members confirm)
Beans I’m 50/50 on. Beans are poor people food, it’s a bit like putting a chicken nugget on a steak dinner, but I will eat them if I’m hungry. Fried potato - a nice touch but feel it’s overdoing it Black pudding - I don’t like it on principle. It’s blood, and this gives me a kind of idea of vodoo or some pagan ritual type thing.
My own personal touch - a quality beefburger added. Goes great with the egg.

Essential: Sausages, eggs (fried or poached), hash browns, beans, buttered toast, pot of tea
Nice addition: Bacon (crispy), mushrooms, tinned or fried tomato
Keep it well away: Black pudding, fried bread, mushy peas

You can’t have a proper fry up without black pudding.

Kingswood cafe is a good place.
There's a place in Westbury that was good but I forget the name.
We have a Full English once a week at home and to be honest, you can't beat making your own.
I love eggs, bacon, a quality sausage, beans, real tomato, mushrooms, hash browns and toast.
Black pudding can GTFO.
I've heard nothing but good things about Flourish but haven't been there yet.
Porkys in Westfield trading estate is also excellent if you ever find yourself out that way.
