I’d also add his views are at odds with HGT, he doesn’t think women should be in the game refereeing and we all know about his actions towards women and now siding with someone like Andrew Tate and his abhorrent views on females. Well this was never going to come from the top of the club, sadly. I do get the impression that Barton can do and say as he pleases without any ramifications whatsoever. We all know Barton has forever been a gobshite. That’s fine, most sportsmen are, certainly on the field of play at least, I worked in a professional sports environment so I know the sledging that goes on. But this is different. As CG has well pointed out, this isn’t an isolated incident and the club now has a stigma because of it. |

So, he could have said "I just watched the long video of Tucker Carson interviewing Andrew Tate. Carson is obviously someone who has used his media platform in the past to spread a false narrative so anything he says should be viewed in that light and Tate is currently under charge for rape and the trafficking of women and has made some pretty repulsive comments about women in general. However I did find the discourse between these two very strange people quite interesting, in trying to understand their mindset" But he didn't. I am not convinced that he could actually. Which leaves his motivation for the comments he made open to interpretation and conjecture. This, given his relatively high profile in Bristol and with young people in and who support the club, is unacceptable and once again brings the club into disrepute. You would think, wouldn't you, that after a disastrous 2nd half of last season and probably the club losing millions in cash, he would be concentrating on turning that around. He doesn't because in his own mind it's not his fault and he is far to clever (and wealthy) to be concerned about minutiae like that. |

No worries mate, I think he’s basically trying to say, would you say a comment by Jimmy Saville for example to be interesting and just leave it like that if you have been associated with molesting children before (Barton wife, Tate views on women) etc. At the end of the day, you are in a public position, with lots of children seeing you as a role model, why not just keep your opinions to yourself and shut your mouth? And why doesn’t the CEO stop this? |

I mean, he’s not looking at the Mona Lisa and finding the paintstrokes of da Vinci interesting is he?! He finds the opinions of a fairly extreme individual both in opinion and behaviour so interesting that he has to retweet it, so there must be some agreement of the content that is contained. If he thought it was a load of rubbish, it wouldn’t be worth his thumb movement or it would along with a comment that stated it wasn’t worth his time. |

I have watched documentaries and read books on subjects/individuals such as Hitler, Harold Shipman, Raul Moat, the moors murderers etc all extreme individuals and found them interesting. Especially the psychology behind it all. It doesn't mean I agree with their heinous crimes. I am obviously missing something again. Not sure what a classical renaissance painter has to do with it either. |
