Pay £2 a week to help the club.
I'm sure the cynics will say a rose by any other name is not the Helpline.
Are chances to win any better - probably.
Are the prizes better - unknown, but overall probably
Will there be a Xmas Party - probably not.
After the initial launch will TG and players actively engaged in a social event for the people paying - probably not.
Will it help the club - yes
Will there be shop discounts - probably not.
Will there be chances of getting tickets for profile games - probably not
Will another paid staff member have to run the scheme rather than a volunteer - probably.
Everyone has to make their own choices. Before some criticize maybe give it a go?
If it helps the club then surely that is the most important thing

Surely it's just the share scheme reinvented ?

Hope there's a direct debit option, easy way to support.
Is this going to double as a shirt launch event given a prize winning one ?

If it helps the club then surely that is the most important thing Wasn't the sole purpose of your post just to criticise it? Not really. I'm sure those who just wanted to criticize would make those negative points, but I made points for, as well. Just trying to put up a level argument. Some will criticize without any investigation. There are those that say it is not run by Helpline/SC etc and that will be the end of it for them. The unique Rovers related prizes may make it worthwhile for younger fans who don't want vouchers or holidays etc, so opening up to a new target audience. Who knows the club may offer some of the incentives that Helpline had, but I am not so sure they will. Me, like many others have paid share scheme, gold bond, Rovers lottery, Helpline, 50/50 etc. I will definitely give the Pirate Pot a go. If it is well marketed and has player support it could raise a lot of money on a regular basis. Some remember when we didn't even have a pot to ......... etc!

Had the launch spin this morning which emphasises that this is aimed at the academy . I am all for helping the club especially the youngsters BUT for all the talk of bringing our own young players through and the club making all the right noises regarding in that area i remain disappointed that IMHO our record of success of developing players to their full potential is not great and to many have been moved on without being given the oppertunity, i realise it's all about opinions and those at the club make professional judgements but if you spend years developing someone because you believe in their ability why keep discarding them just when the club should be reaping the rewards of their investment? never the less i will probably give it a go .

How many of the youngsters released have proved their release to be erroneous by going on to greater things?

Will give this a go. Was lucky to win the top prize on Helpline many years ago, vouchers for Thorntons Travel on Baldwin Street, got a holiday for me & the OH as a result. Got to be in it, to win it.

How many of the youngsters released have proved their release to be erroneous by going on to greater things? Don't think it's as simple as that, there will be i suspect ,in most cases, a motivational and mental hurdle to overcome after being discarded by a club you may have been with for 10 and more years, also the better the players around you are the better you become e.g a creative midfield player needs forwards and others to make runs, find space so he can create the pass, the forwards need to know that if they make runs etc someone will find them with a pass and so on and so on, we can all agree to differ, take Lucas Hoole, watched his development a bit, thought he was an excellent footballer but defensively suspect, still do, but he should benefit from having much more experience around him this season, he is one we have persevered with and the club will get there reward, just an opinion of course!

Wow nice of them to engage with supporters, even if it is only to sell us something. 😏 Will definitely sign up for this.

Keiran Phillips seems a good example of a player being released too early, he's already back up to National League level which isn't that far off L1 level. Hopefully this season we keep Ryan Jones around the first team squad and at least play in the Carling Cup and EFL Trophy games rather than send him off to a non league side.

Wow nice of them to engage with supporters, even if it is only to sell us something. 😏 Will definitely sign up for this. Thanks for the link - it worked! I was at the launch last night where very few turned up, probably less than 50 of the 114 they were expecting (when they thought they’d be oversubscribed for 200 places). They paid tribute to Helpline and all it did in the past, explained all the money raised will go to the Academy to try and improve the success rate and automatically double the value of young players if we gain Category 2 status (which we are on track to do). Special Rovers experience prizes plus weekly and rollover cash prizes with a £10k annual prize proposed. One very important point I haven’t seen anywhere else yet was that NO MONEY WILL BE TAKEN UNTIL 500 JOIN. No priority for tickets nor Christmas Party but I think they said they’d look into both - they didn’t seem to have considered them. They really didn’t seem to have considered how difficult a 6pm start is for most people. Tom Gorringe couldn’t make it out of another meeting. Those that were there pointed out how awful the traffic is at that time. Didn’t seem to have entered the thought process of Mr (Notso) Bright. We did get a glimpse of the new shirt and a draw was held for it - a lovely couple with 2 young boys won it with number 15 - but couldn’t take it with them! Only at Rovers, eh? UTG!

I've signed up. Seems a fairly cheap and easy thing that might provide some help to the youngsters.
Maybe a chance for a money can't buy prize too..... stand naming rights ?
