Doubt they’ll ever mention how often we have to play away from home on opening weekend. 2022 & 2015 are the only times I can recall us getting a home fixture? And we still managed to lose them both 😂 |

I can’t see this run ending on Saturday unfortunately-
Portsmouth will press us hard and I can see us being 0-2 very early - playing out from the back and conceding and then heads getting fuzzy and a second goal follows soon after.
This week JB has some huge decisions to make …
Keeper and CB being most important by far …. Hoping he goes with Belshaw and Crama as I’m not sure Cox is ready for one hell of an atmosphere at Fratton Park and Connolly is a weak link that teams will exploit again and again.
Midfield looks after itself … Grant & Finley - with LT & SS either side ~ worries me that might be too attacking though so maybe AE instead of LT ?
Hopefully JB slightly behind AC and big John first attacking change when needed.
Damn who would be a manager ?
Missing first game as flying back from Greece so just praying we compete hard and maybe right the wrong for last seasons robbery there.

Agreed it most likely be another defeat to keep our opening day record intact ! Really interesting to see what team he puts out first game . I’d go with the new keeper and Connolly. Couple of new signings expected this week but will they be starters or just players to come in as backups ? Wouldn’t it be fantastic to surprise us all and go to a big club and win the first game ? We live in hope 😃 |

In addition to winless in 11 opening days, it's also 1 win in 18 opening days. Absolutely stinking run. Doesn't help we're away more often than not due to the balloon fiesta. Have a good feeling about this game though, no better time to play them than first. |

Is Jones good enough defensively? He has looked good going forward, not sure he has been put under much pressure at the back.

Finally it is a week to discuss an actual league game! Can't wait.
Difficult to predict the starting 11 but I would go for
Belshaw
Hoole Connolly Wilson Gordon
Finley Ward
Sinclair Brown Collins
Marquis
But expect Cox, Crama and Thomas will probably get the nod, with Marquis a 2nd half sub
First game in charge for Mangan, who knows, could well be our next perm manager. Good luck to him, lets break both the Pompey and first game hoodoos!
