I thought the interview was as good as can be expected given the circumstances. Key points being real estate, post Covid, investment and co-owners.
Edit: players are attracted to good training facilities rather than a stadium as most of their time at a football club is spent at training.

Managed to have a listen, very business like so didn't feel it was uninspiring, just his demeanour. That may change in time as he feels more settled and engaged with the 'heart' of the club rather than just the business aspects.
Key points I picked up:
Training ground and academy Club set up Fruit Market
Confirmation they are still in discussion with Conygar with the Mem being part of the deal. No timescales although we do know about Conygar's March 2024 deadline, presumably could be extended. I thought it was interesting they have been talking to Wael since February.
In terms of transfers, not surprised it was downplayed, we don’t want to give the impression we are suddenly moneyed as it will increase prices, wage demands and expectations. Quite happy not to say much here and let actions speak (🤞). Besides, it's not just the fees, it's wages which they would have to underwrite.

Luton have been promoted to the Prem with a terrible low capacity stadium. But they've got plans to move to a new stadium, interestingly it looks to be in the middle of nowhere, a bit like the Uwe would have been! Seriously? Have you actually seen the plans? It's literally smack bang in the middle of the town (ok it's Luton, you could make an argument that it's like building a stadium in, say, Chernobyl), it makes the Fruit market look like the UWE.

Did you just stop reading the thread at that post or continue to my second post where I posted a link to a YouTube video? Where the ground is being built looks a total waste land, like the FM would be if somebody bulldozed the whole of St. Phillips Marsh.

I never get this excuse we don't want to increase prices, if JB has been shopping in Aldi/Lidl all summer and then suddenly starts shopping at Waitrose in new designer gear, then the agents are going to be pretty stupid if they don't realise he's now got some extra funding following the take over. Assuming the new owner is being honest then you do wonder what will happen come January if we're around the top 6, which does seem a possibility from the squad JB's putting together.

It wouldn't be that stark, though. Using your analogy, more buying mid range own brand baked beans then occasionally getting Heinz. As for the comments, I wouldn't take him too literally as he comes across naturally guarded as you'd expect from a businessman. He's probably acutely aware of the media stories when Wael took over and is going out of his way to dampen any "unlucky da sh*t" style comments as it could easily become embarrassing and probably counter productive. On the infrastructure side, I'm broadly optimistic things wouldn't have got this far if plans weren't already agreed in general terms, what those are though, only time will tell.

I assume the stadium capacity could be increased at the Fruit Market if required?

Yeah I am familiar with the site as it is now, it looks like a wasteland (but then this Luton town centre, so..) but it is literally in the town centre, right next the St Mary's church, 'The Mall', which is basically the town centre these days and the University.

If the stadium capacity is just 20000 then more than likely it will not be enough for certain matches in the Championship or higher especially at the rate Bristol's population will increase!

I wouldn't worry about filing a 20k all seater kipper we couldn't fill a 8000 capacity stadium Saturday.
Interesting talking point though I reckon in a spanking new all seater in the champ we'd get between 11-14 k and that includes the huge away followings you get up there. I genuinely don't think we'd get much more than 11-12 k home fans in at this current time. Happy to be proved wrong though. Utg.

Brentford seem to have no trouble selling out their new ground as do Brighton, if we're playing exciting attacking winning football fans will turn up, if we're playing the opposite then they won't. It'll be interesting to see the proposed capacity if CI ever get around to submitting their plans for a stadium at the FM.

I forgot to take into consideration the big rise in ticket prices for a spanking new stadium!! Joey feels the club have huge potential for a big following.

You are comparing sitting in a rust bucket of a car and brand new Mercedes. Most people would get in Mercedes, very few get in the rust bucket. A new ground would attract so many more people who are probably just put off at the match day experience of the Mem not really being up to it. The facilities arent good enough, even yesterday people were risk of getting soaked. I can bet there are people who do stand on the terrace with young kids at home, its not worth risking them getting wet and also not being able to see. Having an all seater with a roof will make so much difference.

Some people like it old school.. and i think that goes for football.. As Confucius said, “Be careful what you wish for”

The pre-match interview on R Bristol with Hussain Alsaeed was totally uninspiring, sounds like there be no additional money in the playing squad until the infrastructure is improved. So probably another 5 years of watching L1 football at the Mem. Even if he was going to splash some cash, he’s hardly going to broadcast it. Selling clubs would immediately chuck another 25% on the asking price and agents would double their cut..

Having an all seater with a roof will make so much difference. Yeah I get that and that's where my estimate of an extra 3 to 4 k home fans comes from than what we currently get. I just genuinely don't think our support base is big enough to be filling a 20k stadium. If city can't manage it we certainly can't. I know for a fact they actually average about 15k with persons through the turnstiles and not counting season ticket holders and not the 20k plus attendance figures they put out. It's an interesting subject. I really hope I'm wrong and we could regularly fill 20k. Let's hope we get to put thr theory to the test in the next 5 years.
