OK not strictly true but reading the Oxford forum, their fans seem to think that Alfie Potter has never been the same player since suffering that injury causesd by Lockyer on him at the Kassam last season. I was there and to be honest didn't think it was that bad just an unfortunate one. yellowsforum.co.uk/thread/20088/farewell-alfie

if it's not strictly true then why write such a headline?

Yes, that headline's unnecessary in my opinion. I would imagine Tom is upset enough about being unluckily involved in causing a fellow professional a serious injury. It would be naive to think that the players don't read this forum and whether you intended it to be or not, I think this is in bad taste. Mods, please can you edit the headline or remove the post please.

The thread title is really just not right. You could consider toning it down to be less emotive and more factual. If I were Tom reading this I'd be pretty angry.
Edit: Just seen your post 2nd May, I think most right minded people will agree

Maybe I should be in Media! Its the sort of headline that would get used.
Like I said I don't think Lockyer's challenge was actually that bad but regardless it sounds like Potter hasn't been the same player since.
To be fair I would get your point if Potter finished playing full stop because of the injury but it is only his time with Oxford which has come to an end not his football career.

Jesus Christ, if you don't like the thread don't bloody read it. You obviously didn't see the original headline before it was changed. I didn't, but it makes no difference. If he had explained why he didn't like the the thread title and felt that should be changed (as I believe you did?) then fine. Just immensely irritating when people go telling tales to the mods "remove this thread because I personally don't like it and thus feel that nobody should be allowed to see it".

Yeah, the content of the thread is OK and the subject is of interest. Just the title was seriously unfair on Tom Lockyer. I don't know if GGMI changed it himself but either way it's now decent.

This time last week the OP was started a pointless thread about Danny Coles now having a pop at poor Tom Lockyer over a miss timed tackle, what's the point is constantly slagging off past & present players, particularly when we're doing so well on the pitch at present.
Why doesn't the OP start posting on the OTIB as they'll love this thread over there.

I agree with your point at the end, but you sound like you are shooting from the hip without the evidence for the first bit. it DOES make a difference what the headline originally read, which was something along the lines of 'Tom Lockyer's career ending Alfie Potter tackle', which seemed provocative, insensitive to all parties and factually wrong. And before anyone says 'you don't have to read it', well actually we do have to read the headline. can't be avoided if you want to use this forum.
