Anyone else think it’s interesting we don’t seem to be connected to anyone else right now.

How we played on Saturday clearly didn't work, as has been the case against similar styles of play of the opposition. If we had been scoring freely from open play in the past 12 months I might be inclined to agree with you. I also think Barton will want to work on JCH to improve him, but at the end of the day I'd be more than happy with a lazy, immobile, 1 million pound striker who scores 25 goals a season for us. I understand that but Saturday was a one off tepid performance which could have been different if Collins scored his 1 on 1 when it was still 0-0.. We’ve been creating chances in all of our previous games and have been a little unlucky to have not scored more with hitting the post, oppo keepers and defenders having blinders as well as some poor shooting… I don’t think JCH is lazy or immobile, he has a particular style that he has had coached all his career where he is the focal point and he typically will play centrally and hold the edge of the area kinda space with the expectation of ball to feet to him… he’s not an off the shoulder type player - very much a strong , bully defenders and use his power and strength…. We just don’t play in that way… we see Marquis come deep, we see Thomas, Collins, Marquis and Sinclair (or whoever the front 4 are) constantly rotate and switch positions and we operate a high high press to force mistakes… that isn’t Jonno’s game imo and if we try and convert him to be like that will he be as prolific? Will he land and start banging the goals in straight away and will he want to change (he’s 29 and an established player) and how long would it take to coach him to be effective playing in a different way… That said - it’s the fee that means he won’t be coming in my opinion. I just don’t believe or see any indication in our owners that they’ll fork out upwards of £750k (and we know DM will try and screw us out of every penny he can) on a player they can get for free in Summer 2024 (and can tie up on a pre contract) in 4 months time… Jonno is playing so it’s not like Peterborough are sidelining him - he’s an important part of their team and it’s purely financial why they are looking to sell All valid points, eloquently put. I do worry about our lack of goals, for some time now too. It's not just missed chances either, it's sometimes a lack of them that's more worrying. I enjoy the way we try and play for the most part, against teams that allow us space and want to play football we look classy. But at least half of the teams in our division will want to stop us playing and it's here that the chances and goals seem to dry up and we begin to look ordinary. JCH should be able to adapt his game, but in games like Saturday could have been the difference due to his attributes. If you remember Jason Roberts, or Barry Hayles for example, they would often score 'ugly' goals in games where no other approach was working. By ugly I mean having the ability to basically barge through a couple of defenders and finish. Just strength and power. JCH has the ability to hold the ball under pressure and make a chance for himself due to his strength and power, we don't have that at our club (unfortunately it looks like Loft can't). Ultimately I don't think he'd require a huge tactical change, we have bags of mobility in other areas and let's not forget he is also a technically gifted player too with passing ability. If the money is available, he could be the difference between finishing mid table or top 6, and as it stands, I think we'll struggle for goals without a different option

Anyone else think it’s interesting we don’t seem to be connected to anyone else right now. Yeah I agree with you BUT no firm links to JCH as of yet. Mind you Joey isn't giving anything to Bristol Post these days so all behind closed doors, as it should be.

Just for perspective City paid £1m for Lee Trundle in 2007 (16 years ago) Some more perspective Southamptom paid £1M for Sir Rickie Lambert back in 2010.

Posh fans suggesting on social media Neil Warnock at Huddersfield is a big fan. Jonno spent time in Yorkshire previously. Interesting couple days ahead, it seems Posh maybe be willing to let him go, or stirring up a bidding war up until deadline day perhaps?

Sounds like Posh might be looking for a couple of new strikers.
I wonder if we might be looking at JCH plus cash for Collins?
Not sure whether I'd want that?
I guess we have Thomas, Sinclair and Vale who can play wide.
Collins hasn't been at his best in 2024 but when he's hot he's unplayable, and he's 3 years younger than JCH.
Would depend how much cash we'd get as part of the deal.
Of course, Posh might not be interested in Collins, but if they were, would you be happy with that sort of deal?

JB will have done his homework, however, I do have a slight concern about how JCH would fit into the work ethic we currently have.

I really don't see this whole saga as anything more than P'boro trying to drum up interest in a striker they want a fee for as he's in the final year of his contract. If Rovers have made contract I'd guess they are being strung along to pressure a Championship club with more money to bid.

Like Chelsea with Mount & Spurs with Kane they’re playing a nonsense game believing they’ll score big dollar for a player with less than a year left on their contract. They won’t win this battle.

Man City never played with a proper 9, but when a no brainer option came to them it was a case of re-inventing their style. Similarly if we got JCH, we’d find a way to make it work around him.
