How we played on Saturday clearly didn't work, as has been the case against similar styles of play of the opposition. If we had been scoring freely from open play in the past 12 months I might be inclined to agree with you. I also think Barton will want to work on JCH to improve him, but at the end of the day I'd be more than happy with a lazy, immobile, 1 million pound striker who scores 25 goals a season for us. I understand that but Saturday was a one off tepid performance which could have been different if Collins scored his 1 on 1 when it was still 0-0.. We’ve been creating chances in all of our previous games and have been a little unlucky to have not scored more with hitting the post, oppo keepers and defenders having blinders as well as some poor shooting… I don’t think JCH is lazy or immobile, he has a particular style that he has had coached all his career where he is the focal point and he typically will play centrally and hold the edge of the area kinda space with the expectation of ball to feet to him… he’s not an off the shoulder type player - very much a strong , bully defenders and use his power and strength…. We just don’t play in that way… we see Marquis come deep, we see Thomas, Collins, Marquis and Sinclair (or whoever the front 4 are) constantly rotate and switch positions and we operate a high high press to force mistakes… that isn’t Jonno’s game imo and if we try and convert him to be like that will he be as prolific? Will he land and start banging the goals in straight away and will he want to change (he’s 29 and an established player) and how long would it take to coach him to be effective playing in a different way… That said - it’s the fee that means he won’t be coming in my opinion. I just don’t believe or see any indication in our owners that they’ll fork out upwards of £750k (and we know DM will try and screw us out of every penny he can) on a player they can get for free in Summer 2024 (and can tie up on a pre contract) in 4 months time… Jonno is playing so it’s not like Peterborough are sidelining him - he’s an important part of their team and it’s purely financial why they are looking to sell Just to note, we can't sign pre-contract agreements with players at English clubs in January, it can only be done one-month in advance (i.e. June). The pre-contract rule exists for non-English teams - i.e. Scottish or foreign-based players. JCH can, of course, sign a pre-contract in January with a foreign club though.

Similarly Posh won't want to let JCH run down his contract and leave on a free transfer next summer, they'll probably take what any team is prepared to pay, whatever any team is prepared to pay. If we are interested perhaps they think he can be picked up for £400/£500K, although his apparent £6K a week wage could be an issue if the likes of Collins, Sinclair and Marquis are on £3K a week max.

Personally I don't think he will be coming back, it's all hype and wishful thinking from fans

Given their apparent money issues mentioned already on this thread then can they really afford to turn down £100K's just to stop a rival buying him?

Well several have put forward the argument of "what would his goals be worth if it got us promotion?" - surely the same applies to Posh; they could argue keeping him for less than a million may make better sense potentially, if his goals give them a shot at promotion and a far bigger payday than the million price tag they've put on his head.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned before but I have seen a number of comments regarding Posh being desperate for cash but if Ivan Toney sells they are entitled to 30% of any fee. So if he’s worth say £90m they will get £27m which will help any money problems. Even though he won’t go until January it isn’t that far off.
I really don’t see JCH coming back for several reasons and, in all honesty i personally would prefer the money to be spent on another option. Although I don’t have ideas on who!

I guess that depends on how serious their money issues are at present and whether they can even afford to get promoted, if Posh don't want to sell JCH then why's DM trying to talk up his value?

Could always try Harvey Greenslade, could at least have tried him in EFL trophy, some will say 'you can't play kids etc', but i say give him the one on ones we have missed recently and other guilt edged chances and i am confident he would have put at least some of them away, just mho of course!

Not a chance will they get £90m for Toney, his reputation is in teh gutter given his ban for betting, this will prevent him getting the big sponsors/marketing, he plays for Brentford and he's not an established international. My guess is that he'll spend 2 years in the prem and end up in Saudi for £20-£30m which I would snap your hands off as hes the type of player who is an injury away from being useless like Michael Owen

JB and JCH would be fireworks..... won't work. can't see JB putting up with JCH sulks. Not sure JCH is someone you "out" in public and he responds - can't remember what GC did to get the best out of him.

Ah right. memory is not great from that long ago.... maybe they could work together. There seems to be mutual respect between the two but as it would involve breaking the transfer record I doubt anything will happen unless Collins was in the deal. I keep seeing posts about possible attitude issues from JCH but cant remember seeing any evidence of this myself, and he has kept banging in the goals ever since he left?

That said, there have been more than a few members of our current and past squad who have cited the manager as the main reason for being here. Love or loathe the bloke, these players really seem to buy into his work ethic. Oh to be a fly on the wall in the dressing room every week eh. Wish he would add video content behind the scenes on matchday, now that he's posting behind a pay wall.

Apart from his temper, the only negative things ive heard about him from other players are the harshness of his pre season training programs
