Very impressed with all the new signings yesterday, keeper was brave, made some good saves and wasn't afraid to come off his line which I like. Wilson was calm and you could see him organising the back line, was a good battle with piggott. Connolly did well, him and Gordon were great together stopping the threat down that side, although obvious Connolly not great on his left foot. Luke T had a good game defending and attacking. The goal came about because of the changes, Grant will never be a full back, between him and the fact Finley didn't have the legs to close the man down, we gave them far to much room to cross the ball. Not a moan as it was a good point, but you could see it coming.

Good point on reflection, we looked great going forward. We need to work on stopping crosses tho it was a joke how many crosses we let come in the box especially second half. Portsmouth are a very direct team glad I don’t watch them every week, however they are effective .

Cox was assured & confident in everything he did, Wilson I thought was an absolute rock. What a signing.

Have you seen the stats? It does look like freak result. I think it's better that Rovers are playing Barnsley and not Port Vale next week. Wounded animal and all that?

Another point v Barnsley next week and I’d be really happy hopefully we can sign a proper striker as well

Draw away at Pompey not to be sniffed at. They dominated us second half and it was a stern test for our new look defence. Despite that pressure we persistently played out from the back, it almost cost us a couple of times but you have to admire it. JB and LT looked dangerous on the counter. I’m pleased with that. Roll on Barnsley.

Very happy with the past week, off the field and on it I feel progress has been made.
Onwards and upwards 👍🏾

I agree, our way of playing out from the back means the keeper has to be comfortable with the ball at his feet,Belly unfortunately is not. Cox is part of the new keepers who by and large are comfortable playing this way, plus his skills have been honed at a Premiership club.

Always frustrating to let a lead slip in stoppage time, but overall, a good performance and a decent result.
I haven't decided one way or the other on Cox. Far too early. Not bad and no chance with the goal, but one or two stray passes and a couple of times he came for crosses he didn't get. I think the odd stray pass in inevitable if we're playing out from the back.
Defence looked pretty good, but as others have said, we do let a lot of crosses into our box from both sides.
Ward and Finley did well, but Finley has already picked up his first yellow of the season, and with Rossiter our long term, we need another DCM before the window closes.
Collins was lively and probably should have scored when he rounded the keeper, but for me Thomas was MOTM. Great finish for the goal and played well going forward and tracking back.
Brown will definitely prove to be a top signing, lovely pass to LT to set up the goal, and Marquis worked hard and won us a lot of important free kicks.
Good to see Taylor back in the quarters and Grant back from injury.
Plenty of positive to take into the next game.

Think Collins will rewatch his miss after rounding the keeper and realise he could have turned and ran towards goal before shooting. Last season that would have gone in ,he just needs to score a few and his "goal touch" will return. Finley laid on a lovely ball to open up the space for Brown to cross to Thomas ,good move all round .

I can't see Belshaw being here much longer unless he's content to sit on the bench all season. As Cox is clearly now the new No 1 when we've even built our style of play around him. I can; when Cox is off playing for England under 19s, Belly lest not forget our former player of the year, whom without him imo we would not have got out of Div 2, will be required.

“Where’s your famous atmosphere”
The one song mob couldn’t even be bothered with that! Silenced and humbled by an amazing away end, Gas were on fine form in the ground from first min to the last yesterday.
Awesome scenes when LT found the net. We could have easily been 2/3 up going into injury time n all, slightly wasteful from a few very good chances. Thomas, Brown & Collins all guilty. Azza’s chance I thought was ‘the moment’.

Grant should of been stronger, didn't tackle the player who then passed the ball out wide to the player who crossed the ball as Finley didn't close him down. The real problem was by taking LT and Collins off allowed pompey full backs to overload us in the wide positions. I'm sure we learn from it.

JB said in his “Having a Gas” interview that probably all the substitutes would be used for the first few games as some players would still be getting up to speed following their individual pre-season preparations. So, expect to see more personnel management substitutions rather than primarily tactical ones in the coming fixtures.

It doesn't really say a lot for Belshaw own ambitions if he's just content to play the odd game when Cox is on international duty.

Regardless of the last minute equaliser, if we can hold our own, away, at Portsmouth, and take a point, with a good performance, very happy.
Bring it on.

My main concern with what looks like some great defensive additions is the LCB role. I wonder if we will move to 3 at the back soon when Friend is back and have Wilson - Taylor - Friend as the first choice Grant or Gordon maybe able to play LWB not sure about Hoole, he is an out and out RB for me. Maybe Sinclair. Don’t really like the formation but Taylor or Wilson will be uncomfortable on that side.
