Did he clarify why the old one came down before we were in a position(I.e. with PP) to proceed with the new one? Not got my head around that one tbh. I might be missing some of the previous comments on this, so apologies if it has already been covered elsewhere. So the site could be cleared & the foundations which took a few weeks to complete , put in place to allow the new stands to be constructed.

Support cases have increased - BUT it does not help our case when people say "Object" when they are supporting !!!

But that is the bit I find confusing (might be just my grey cell going wonky though!). Without the PP there is no way the stand could (I assume) be constructed. So why remove something before you know with some certaintythat there is a way to replace it? It’s been there for some time now so a bit longer would not have been a problem surely? With PP in the back pocket a better way forward could have been taken?

With PP in the back pocket a better way forward could have been taken? if you went to the ground during the break you would have seen all the plant and equipment that was needed to take the stand down and it covered about half the car park. it also took about 6 weeks to get us this far. if you wait until the planning has been granted and do the work during the season then approx 12 matches will be affected and the H and S might have said that it was too dangerous. It was a gamble

Couldn't we have done the foundation this summer, got pp during the winter, then fired on next spring with the stand, surely another eight months wouldn't matter after all this time,I'm certainly not itk 🙄

It was a gamble Yep…thanks…can understand all that. But that’s my point though. If PP was sought (and hopefully agreed) much earlier this work could have been started right after the final whistle ( so to speak). For me, whilst happy that we are going in the right direction with this, the timing does seem a bit wonky and maybe a bit naive from BRFC to think it wouldn’t stir up the hornets nest that it has done. But onwards..👍

**Creating a new thread for the sole purpose of ensuring as many see this and support the application** Afternoon all, So I bumped into Wael and the new owners on the way and back from the Pompey game yesterday. On the way back we had a good chat about the South West Stand through the London underground. He said, 'the local residents have become really organised on their objections. They've formed Whatsapp groups and meet regularly to discuss what else can be done to stop the stand going up. We have the planning review in the next 2 weeks, the most important thing for the club right now in this going ahead is having as many Gasheads comment on the application in support. It could make all the difference' I'll admit, I haven't done so yet but am doing it now. Let's get behind the club and see this over the line, it takes 30 seconds! Instructions: Click comment on this link: pa.bristol.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=RSQK1RDNKSY00Direct link for comments page: pa.bristol.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=RSQK1RDNKSY00Gonna say it again. Can moan about the locals being organised, but perhaps if we actually consultwd with them in the first place properly...

It's seems certain people that living in the area feel it should stay the same with no major developments, they objected to a Witherspoon's, they objected to a Sainsbury's Superstore and now they are objecting to the new stand.

Who knows if it would have made a difference, there will always be objections but we watered the neighbours off in the first by working at early hours til late, which clearly hasnt helped and just galvanised support against us because they believe we are flouting the rules

Agree, and I would like to think our Board know this as well. Which is why I think (without any other knowledge of what may/may not be going on behind the scenes and not in public view) it was a bit naïve to remove something before you had dealt with those you knew were likely (rightly or wrongly depending which side of the fence you are on) to stand in your way of replacing it.

If those in charge of the South Stand project seriously couldn't foresee objections that may hinder progress, then we can all kiss the Fruit Market goodbye.

Reading some of the objections, there are many weak arguments given.
Most popular being one liners that they werent consulted.
Another being they like to walk around Gloucester Road and support the independent bars, restaurants and shops. The increase in footfall once a fortnight would some how make it difficult??
A "potential" increase in Litter, drunken antics, abuse and violence.
Also the police being competent enough to hand extra few hundred people. I would argue there is very little games that are policed and rare that there is trouble.
Some have even share pictures from their gardens. Worried that people might be able to see in. Clearly see from the picture there is no chance because of trees, also that the stand faces the opposite direction towards the pitch funnily enough.
