Sure this will just be a poorwarm up to the big act SteveK however En route back, stuck in traffic, few thoughts..
Scrappy game, similar to Welling away in the frustration stakes although we didn't create the chances we had in that game.
No creativity, completely lacking in the final third. Touches deserted a lot of players today, maybe due to lack of a game in the past 2 weeks.
I thought we looked comfortable, Woking offered little, puffy didn't need to make a save (neither did theirs to be fair), very niggly game which the ref failed to control despite shouting sh/te all game.
Special mention to Tom Parkes who was immense today. I wouldn't normally use that word as its like an A* grade but he won everything, played it out well and looked like he should be playing at a higher level. His commitment and effort was commendable.
Gosling was not at the races today, gave the ball away a lot. When he runs with the ball he is capable of creating things but it's almost like he is holding back most of the time.
Manse solid in the middle, won so many tackles. Easter showed decent touches when he came on and linked well with Taylor on a couple of occasions. Taylor unlucky with two disallowed goals, not sure about the first but the second was despite a cracking finish. (Yes tbone, I realise it didn't count).
Crowd very quiet on the terrace for the numbers, esp 2nd half. Good noise made at times from the stand.
Final note, if true about 3-400 locked out outside (certainly saw numbers outside the gate) that is nothing short of disgusting from Woking in every sense. They knew we'd be taking numbers. It was talked about for at least two weeks. Such a wasted journey when there was loads of room for them. And throwing money away from workings point of view. As I said, shameful.

Good post. Thanks for the review. It actually means a lot to those of us who are stuck abroad.

Just back from the game.
Very frustrating.
We were the better side, but didn't create very much.
Two goals disallowed for offside - the second one clearly was offside - not so sure about the first.
Very few clear chances (I don't actually remember any!).
Hoof ball was the order of the day. Whenever we brought it down we passed it to the opposition or to no one at all!
No one deserving of MoM, although Parkes and McChrystal looked solid at the back. Midfield pretty ineffective. Taylor/Blissett OK, with the service they were given (ie very little of quality). Didn't see much of Easter when he came on. Harrison up to his usual standard when he came on.
Other than the support, not much to write home about really - but there you go.
At least I haven't got to drive all the way back to Brizzle!

Not been to anywhere close to all the games but maybe things might have been better with Sinclair?

I wondered about that even before the game.
He wasn't even on the bench.
Is he injured?

Reading elsewhere, I now understand that he has a poorly foot.
We did miss his drive in midfield.

Definitely could do with some cover in central midfield if we have any chance of catching Barnet.Clarke is okay sometimes but would prefer someone better.

Sorry Wreckless must have been at a different game.
I thought Taylor and Blissett were awful all game ,not to mention Gosling. We looked more likely when Easter and Harrison came on. And why oh why did DC not give AD a run? We were never going to get anywhere without beating the fullbacks.

I get why he didn't start Easter but AD surely signed to create stuff

I just felt they didn't get any kind of decent service because the midfield didn't create much for them. I also didn't feel that we were any better when Easter and Harrison came on. I don't think either of them had a shot worthy of the name. I did hope that DC would bring AD on when OC had to go off. Maybe he wasn't ready to be risked for an hour.

right from the off we lacked wing play! so when Ollie Clarke had to go off why was Lockyer used as a centre mid??? surely Dawson out wide & move monkhouse in behind the front two would have been better!?? gosling wound me up too! he found 5 yards and instead of doing the line and getting balls in the box he checked in time & time again to give 10 yard balls inside that came to nothing! hold up play from Taylor & blissit was sh**e too....... got my moaning head on and could go on & on but a point away from home is a point gained I spose!

I thought the same about AD.
Taylor and Blissett awful all game? Looked like a great burst through the middle from Blissett - strong and quick - on the highlights. Taylor scored a valid goal. (Though I wasn't there)
On the radio, Woking's spokesman said that they offered all-ticket to Rovers, but we turned it down. They say they estimated the numbers of Gas to come, but it exceeded anything else this season so far. They couldn't let fans into other parts of the ground on the terms of their " safety certificate".
EDIT: not defending the shambles that ruined the day for so many, just letting people who missed it know what was said by Woking about the mess- up.

The game sort of passed by. We didn't deserve to lose but didn't do enough to win either. Referee was absolutely shocking. McChrystal and Parkes were immense along with Mansell. Gosling and Clarke not good enough. Easter shown glimpses but didn't get the service.
Frustrating afternoon.

If anything we were worse for their absence. The service up to the strikers wasn't great and there was one very good link up play between Talor and Blissett in the first half. I don't think he brought AD on because he realises Harrison is low on confidence of late and he did get us a point against Torquay the other week so only fair that Clarke repaid him.

I called Lockyer going in midfield. I think he did this because doing what you suggest would have opened the game up way too early and I don't think Clarke was wiling to take too many risks at that stage of the same as it was still early on.

It was a real shame that Stu wasn't playing yesterday because Tom could have gone into central defence and we could have reverted to wing-backs.As it was I think it was probably the only option DC had yesterday. That said I would have brought on Easter up front alongside Blissett with Taylor having a free role, I am afraid Gosling just had one of those days.

Pretty much agree with the OP.
A few thoughts I had on the game:
- We missed Sinclair a lot. Mansell & Clarke (then Lockyer) did a decent job of keeping us solid in the midfield and battled well, but the absence of Sinclair's energy, drive, and pressing through the middle was a big blow.
- Gosling and Monkhouse were hopeless all game. Monkhouse has been one of our best players in the last few weeks, and Gosling has also put in some good performances. But yesterday they were terrible from start to finish - tracked back well, but their touch and end product was abysmal. Very surprised Dawson didn't get a run out on the wing for one of those two.
- Defence and Puddy very solid as always. Parkes and McChrystal in particular were man mountains at the back and got their head/foot onto everything that came into our box.
- I thought Taylor and Blissett did well out of the dire service they recieved all match. Easter also showed some bright touches, but you could tell he was getting frustrated with the quality (lack of) around him.
Sign a creative CM, DC!

Thanks for the post match thoughts everyone, it's much better that we have a separate thread like this rather than everything getting mixed up in the long match day thread.
