The East side at The Mem has enormous potential for non-matchday revenue; multi-functional spaces - hotel rooms, function rooms, gym etc. A key aspect being the fantastic views over Bristol for which people pay a premium. Planning permission has previously been given for big structure on the East Side - or would it be a better return on investment to increase capacity at minimal cost and gamble signing players for a quick promotion? Rebuilt and you could stick in a load of executive boxes as well .

I can accept the south stand as it is, I'd rather the club took their time and did a really good building the other 3 sides again.
Why rush to add a few seats in the gaps that are missing.
Build a top drawer east stand, with shops, bars etc.. boxes and changing rooms move over to the East stand. Again I would flatten it to pitch level and build up
If we then had to wait a couple years for investment to build either North or West then so be it.

An advantage on non-match days would be the convenience to park outside the East side, stay overnight, a crèche (and babysitting service during the evenings) and gym on site - the main USP would be the fantastic views over Bristol.

Where's the ÂŁ20m+ going to come from if the owner only wants to spend ÂŁ5m? We're potentially getting a ÂŁ10m+ investment in the Mem when we've not spent a penny for years and your saying that's not good enough you want ÂŁ30m spent.

Pretty certain if there was demand for an hotel on Glos Rd one would have already been built.

I wonder if we could do that in an expanded East stand, we might be able to get rid of the boxes in the West and make it a two tiered thing without changing the footprint, and making it look a bit more like a football stand.

I like that idea that side with a new roof with a few tiers of seating could look decent. If the changing rooms executive boxes etc were in the new stand on the opposite side.

If you can’t afford it, why you buying it? He did buy it, doesn't mean he's got to spend millions after that. And not as if the planning, architects, structural engineers, builders etc were free. Why though? Seems daft.

Not so much can't afford it but wants to do it in the most cost effective manner. Whilst we'd like an all singing and dancing East Stand, he may well think that a modest upgrade will suffice.

a new stand and share of the non-matchday income. Why would the hotel owners pay towards a new stand rather than just the cost of the hotel section? hoteliers etc purchase a lease to run aspects on non-matchdays - including multi-use hotel rooms that become exec boxes for matches.

It comes down to return on investment rather than cost. If the owners can quickly increase capacity for the lowest possible cost and quick promotion to the Championship then they could sell the club for a profit - rather like flipping a house.

Maybe I’m easily pleased, but I don’t mind the look of the East or West stands. It’s not these that make the Mem a laughing stock, it’s the little temporary stands that have been tagged on - basically the tents. All I ask is that what we add on to the east or west stand compliments what is already there. I must say, I don’t have a lot of confidence in this given our track record!

Quick promotion to the Championship after doing up the Mem to then sell it? I'd rather invest in South African diamond mines.
