Maybe I’m easily pleased, but I don’t mind the look of the East or West stands. It’s not these that make the Mem a laughing stock, it’s the little temporary stands that have been tagged on - basically the tents. All I ask is that what we add on to the east or west stand compliments what is already there. I must say, I don’t have a lot of confidence in this given our track record! Does the new south stand not give you a little bit more confidence?

If funds are limited then I'd prefer they concentrated on the East stand rather than spread it across East and North.

The East side at The Mem has enormous potential for non-matchday revenue; multi-functional spaces - hotel rooms, function rooms, gym etc. A key aspect being the fantastic views over Bristol for which people pay a premium. Planning permission has previously been given for a big structure on the East Side - or would it be a better return on investment to increase capacity at minimal cost and gamble signing players for a quick promotion? But we are not staying at the Mem long term. A new stadium is the only way forward if Rovers are to become a successful championship club.

I agree with your second point, but as for staying longer term, I can't see this regime having the means to ever deliver a purpose built facility that is fit for purpose, but only time will tell I suppose.

I think the lesson learned from UWE ,Fruit market and the Quarters is...we need to own the site and control the development.

Does the new south stand not give you a little bit more confidence? As a temporary solution it's OK, but If you are designing the ideal stand it wouldn't have columns restricting sightlines. Unless I dreamt this I've heard that to have a cantilever roof/no pillars would have meant a smaller stand leading to the loss of 500 seats or £1,000 plus a home game. Given it's going to be mainly used by away fans I'd leave them to suffer with pillars and bank take the extra revenue per match.

I think the lesson learned from UWE ,Fruit market and the Quarters is...we need to own the site and control the development. And we are doing that by building at the Mem what what probably have never been considered at the FM or close to UWE. It's obvious new owners do not have big money to afford a fit for purpose modern stadium. It does make me wonder if we will continue to see as much investment in playing side. I am stuggling to understand why the new owners have bought the club, other than to help Wael recover his loses.

Sounds like, and from the looks of the South Stand, they are capable of building a fit for purpose Stadium. You've no idea how much budget they've given Mangan or any potential Manager and if you honestly think they shelled out money just to help Wael? There's something wrong with you, can't see any positives what so ever. Sure this is the Club for you? Jesus Christ what a misery.
