It comes down to return on investment rather than cost. If the owners can quickly increase capacity for the lowest possible cost and quick promotion to the Championship then they could sell the club for a profit - rather like flipping a house. Quick promotion to the Championship after doing up the Mem to then sell it? I'd rather invest in South African diamond mines. the owners are business people who will want a return on their investment; not subsidising losses as a hobby. Increasing capacity as soon as possible for lowest possible cost and achieving promotion as soon as possible (looking to sign JCH, sacked JB) would seem the plan. If they plan on sticking around in the Championship then they would be planning to build a big new stand on the East side in preparation to establish and sustain the club at that level.

Example of me censoring you? Easy. "There's something wrong with you, can't see any positives what so ever. Sure this is the Club for you? Jesus Christ what a misery" You obviously have no idea what censoring means. Nevermind, it's over. Adios misery.

But we are not staying at the Mem long term. A new stadium is the only way forward if Rovers are to become a successful championship club. Source? Based on nothing more than the words used by the owner in the last interview.

Nevermind, it's over. Adios misery. Will take another relegation to realise we are a sh** show and not progressing, just endless cycle of being fed sh** by the club. Rumour 2 more staff left club, we have no manager, no communication from the club, but we have replaced a tent and suddenly we are on the up. My miserable comments aren't just based on the new stand, which is better than the tent, its off the back of failing in an embarrassing way to sign a striker, the fact that we were only told FM was off after evening post. And this is just a couple months after releasing a promo.. I could go on and on, but I think you believe it is all acceptable.

Not in the "i want it now " age we appear to be living in. The club is 140 years old...if years to come means the club is 160 years old at that point a new stadium opens its still pretty soon. Compared to what the club has achieved stadium wise in the last 80 years.

Yes this is around about what Hussein Al-Saeed said pre Whitby match on the 4th November.Just listened to it and the last endings of note were “we finish the South, then we go to the East side and will be the South and North of the East stand that will develop it,that will be stage 2 and stage 3 will go after that which will be Thatcher and the corner? (Uncertain of actual word used) area and that would hopefully complete the Memorial Stadium and that will do us for a number of years to come”.

I'm quite pleased with the look of the new stand and it shows the owners are apparently serious about a refurb.
How serious remains to be seen. If we're still here in two years waiting for news on the East stand wings I'll be a little disappointed.

Unless the new owners were pulling strings months before the takeover the new stand design is down to Wael, what they've got planned for the East Stand wings may be something completely different. It's not even clear if they are using the same architects.

Forget the sponsors name.

The more I think about it the east stand is a tricky one. It will come down to how much money the new owners can spend and how long term we are to be at the mem.
The east stand is really the only stand that we are pretty much free from any logistical location restraints. We could eat into the car park behind and have great flexibility in what we do.
We could make a really smart 10K stand.
I know it all comes down to cash but in spending more money you may generate proportionally a lot more income.
In doing a half measure job you may just be wasting that money as it will need redoing in a few years time.

There's a massive difference in finding a few ÂŁm to put a couple of semi permanent stands up, compared to ÂŁ20m+ for a complete new stand plus the loss of revenue for a couple of seasons whilst it's rebuilt.
Rough figures but that could be ÂŁ25m v ÂŁ5m?

Does anyone know the capacity of each area? I'm guessing East is 4000, North is 3000 and West 2000.
