It was always replica football kits, sports equipment or bikes for my Christmas presents. Every high street had a sports shop in those days and that was my idea of Santa’s Grotto heaven - made Mums life easy as she only had to walk a couple of hundred yards to Sport & Leisure in Staple Hill or a short bus trip to Parker Sports in Kingswood/Doug Hillards in Fishponds.

Our family weren’t very wealthy so whilst my mates were getting Raleigh Grifters, Strika’s and Raleigh Burners I was getting the budget versions from Asda!!!
