"These are shirts are not numbered and are not boxed" Missing comma? Although it seems pretty obvious that they are shirts! 😂 I'm very confused. The club has bought 1883 limited edition boxed and numbered shirts? And now has produced more of the same shirt, just without the box and they are not numbered, is that right? So as a guestimate we have produced around 2000 of the 140 anniversary shirt. But of the original 1883 how many have been sold? Would it not have been more profitable to have sold the remaining 1883 shirts at a discount first, rather than having hundreds and hundreds left in storage in the stock room?

There's a whiff of a c0ckup about this but it's hard to be sure. It could be an excellent marketing initiative to generate additional sales.
I'll go with my instinct and previous form though and plump for a whoopsie.

Im not sure I want to wear one, but I suspect in about 10 years they are going to look wicked, we will be in the prem and an an unopened boxed shirt is going to be worth about £500

Wasn't it a separate company doing the numbering and collectors box? As they cocked up the XXXLs.
My guess is we over ordered for promotional material and in case of blunder when numbering and boxing up. These are the left overs.

I would imagine we had a minimum order number, we couldn't just ask them to produce 1883. I'd assume 2000, which would leave only 117 non boxed/numbered shirts. Hardly "hundreds and hundreds". The boxed numbered one is still available on the website but the larger sizes (L, XL, XXL etc.) have all sold out so probably just a few left in the smaller sizes, which are always the ones more difficult to shift.

So those of us who went for the "limited edition" version at £69.99 paid an extra £20.99 for a certificate, a box and a little number between 1 and 1883 printed on the on the bottom front of the shirt? Bargain!!

There were 1883 that were numbered and boxed. The club had to produce an additional 100 shirts for the first team and they have to allow to any spoilage during manufacture. There are also manufacturing tolerances. When you order anything you may end up with 5% more. I'd imagine these are those shirts. Also from what one of the shop staff told me there are only around 300 of the 1883 boxed shirts left.

Blimey, they do know we are not Chelsea don't they!?

Not sure having reserve prices of £283 or £183 is going to encourage much participation!

Don't think there will be much take up. From what I can see there have been no bids so far - probably because the starting bid price seems to be set at £183 for shirts 1-10 and £283 for #1883. Mental. And there doesn't seem to be any indication of sizing, maybe you get to choose if you win the auction. All seems a bit ill thought out.
