Christmas jumpers at the ready for the visit of all conquering table topping Portsmouth in a Boxing Day bonanza!
Really tough game for us on the back of a disappointing defeat at Blackpool. If the seasons not over already it pretty much will be with a defeat ( barring a late miracle).
Bound to be a few changes for this game , hopefully Wilson & Hunt are back to bolster the defence.
Sell out crowd so should be a cracking atmosphere.
Thoughts ?

I’ve gone draw.
Which won’t be too bad.
Hopefully we beat Charlton and Wycscum and that won’t be a bad festive period, possibly our toughest (on paper!)
We then go on quite a favourable run, although we have struggled against the more direct and physical sides.
Either way I think we can all agree it’s a team that tries to play football and Is generally good to watch.

Colby Bishop will score from the spot, given the chance.
Pompey have been awarded and scored 6 penalties this season and conceded just one.
Apart from their 6 penalties, Pompey score many of their goals following MP long throws and from set pieces. SR is a particular predator.
Rovers have conceded ZERO penalties this season and AE scored one.
Joe Morrell will also seek to wind up Sam Finley and seek to get him dismissed.
A 1-1 draw will do. A 3-0 victory will be brilliant.

Merry Christmas all the pirates. Sorry to say I can only see a 1 - 3 loss to Pompey on Boxing day.
Hope I am wrong but we have still got a long way to go to assemble a promotion team and hopefully the
board will spend some money in the new year. Our squad is still not strong enough for for a challenge
this year. Roll on 2024. Up The Pirates. Happy new year to all.

You can get strange results on Boxing Day.
I think the fact that we’re home makes it a bit of a leveller.
I’m going for 1-1 or 2-2.
I won £50 on a correct score last night so I’m thinking a tenner on each.

Last year Joe Morell wound up Quansah and then went out of his way to get in his face when the big man reacted . Went down like the wimp that he is to get the young guy sent off - so he deserves his come uppance. Having said that Quansah has played 9 games for liverpool this season in Premier League and Europe whilst Morell- still languishing in League one. Also made me laugh how they chant about Pack as being one of their own when in reality he was living in Portishead - not sure whether he still is .

Narrow defeat which I'd probably take tbh - really tough game, simply put, they are better than us.
But I really believe we can compete and that's a great feeling. And once we're through this extraordinarily tough run of games, I reckon we'll be winning most weeks. Hugely impressed with MT so far.

When Pompey do lose an away game, it will more than likely be three or four on the bounce! Form often falters when undefeated runs end. Mind you good luck to Portsmouth as they are playing very well. It would be nice if Rovers do actually win tomorrow. Oh how I wish Rovers could go on a similar run. Sure hope Matt Taylor can bring The Gas success. Football is certainly a frustrating game!
