Nor do I , but the subject wasn’t golf 🏌️♂️💙 I watch quite a lot of golf, and have to say that the men's game is much more enjoyable as a spectator. Laura Davis is a decent commentator on both men's and women's game, she is very knowledgeable, has competed with men, and her voice has a low pitch. |

Well maybe because on a thread about outdated views regarding women's entitlement to talk about football, your mention of finding them doing so excruciating leads people to maybe presume you hold those views too. Do you find women talking excruciating in any other context or is it just about football? im not saying their views are excruciating I’m saying the female voice is not imo particularly pleasant to listen to re - football commentary’s - that’s all ! im a woman, if that makes me a misogynist ( in this culture today ) then so be it 🤣! 💙Utg Funny that most call centres, recorded announcements and satnavs disagree with you about the screeching excrutiating sound of the female voice. Your opinion is a complete mystery to me. |

Surely the issue here is not gender, it's quality of commentators and pundits. There are plenty of crap blokes on football shows who just talk cliched bollocks that insult your intelligence and sometimes they can't even talk English. I don't want the expert opinion telling me "well he's got to be disappointed with that" or "he's got to take them chances"! I want punditry that analyses tactics and the skill or mistakes that professionals are more likely to know and bring to the viewers attention that they would not have otherwise known. Oh and VAR, cut the forensic analysis to establish if a toe nail was offside! Some of these expert pundits you have to look up to find out who they are, that's men and women! Too many are are awful even well known ex players, Michael Owen's gaffs are a standing joke! I think you've completely and utterly missed the point here. The whole issue and debate is about gender. |

I’ve done call centre work, you don’t normally have to get ‘over excited’ vocally in that nature of work hence the voice dosn’t rise !

I may be wrong but I don't ever hear the criticism about female comms/punditry in other sports. Or at least you don't have the equivalent of Joey Barton saying Denise Lewis shouldn't talk about a men's race for example

To be fair…..That commentary from Sheridan was appalling. Completely lacking in passion, boring and hard to follow. Not a lead commentator. Don’t agree on the whole though there are decent women commentators out there. The only times she sounded passionate were when Crawley scored . . . |

Bit off topic but i watched a programme about women getting the vote, i was surprised when they said women couldn't vote because they didn't get called up for war. Must admit i hadn't heard that before. The original suffrage movement were incredibly militant and used very similar tactics to those used by Just Stop Oil today. Women were banned from museums and art galleries unless they were accompanied by a man or had a letter vouching for them from their husband. It wasn't until the war when women paused their action and worked towards the war effort that government finally were forced to recognise the valuable contribution women had made. My great-gran was a real suffragette - she got arrested once in about 1911 or something for chaining herself to the railings outside Staple Hill nick, lol |

I haven't missed the point here at all, yes this thread is about gender. My own point is that I just want to see quality in presentation of matches regardless of gender. |
