Yes, it makes sense from all angles, freeing up the manager for first team affairs and esp as the owners talked about having club staff and not necessarily those brought in by the manager. A DoF would make so much sense in today’s football. UTG! Who would you appoint ? I think the most obvious choice would be Olly although many would disagree I’d have to give it more thought but, if owners are looking at costs (internal appointment) then someone like Kevin Bond with his width of experience in all leagues, respected by most people may be a good choice. Of course the details are always important and it would depend on what duties came under his responsibilities, recruitment, all teams, developing a consistent approach etc. And if it suited his strengths and of course he may not want it so that would be the end. And of course it could be someone we may not have heard of. I would not choose Ollie, the post would need someone with an attention to detail, contracts, getting value for money etc. Coordinating people and processes would be important as well. Pretty sure for all his strengths attention to detail isn’t one of them! UTG!

And of course whatever your thoughts on Tommy W are/were we were developing an infrastructure until Wael went against much of what he’d done and went down the route of the personality manager with total power. Leaving us, when it changed again, weaker imo.
UTG!

I’d really like us to put something in place and let it grow.
Everytime we change manger we say stuff like “he needs to sort the recruitment department “
Let’s try and have a go at getting a solid structure in place

(ignoring the personalities which has already been done to death). Now we seem to have gone to TG > MT?? Building a decent infrastructure will cost decent money, not sure there's any real evidence the new owners are prepared to spend that type of money, time will tell.

Both the previous recruitment guys were picked by the manager. I don’t think that should be happening.

I agree but who is going to find the new man for the job and also pay him the going rate? At some point soon the new owners are going to have to disclose their plans for the East Stand development and the improvements to The Quarters, which is big money to spent if they are not fully committed to the cause. ,

I’d say they were very different TW had a good background at Coventry and was not so connected to the manager as EJ. Honestly they were very different and that was shown that once DC went TW stayed and continued. More club than managers mate I think. Both were picked by the manager I agree bit EJ was so closely allied to his manager that he went at the same time. Little faith in him by the owners? Whatever I’m not sure that atm we have enough football expertise in the club for the club to appoint DoF without advice from elsewhere. And it will cost and your last paragraph I can completely agree with. UTG!

I'm pretty certain you backed JB for the job, as you did with BG. Unfortunately, these are the types of people JB always associates himself with.

I'd like us to appoint a proper HOR by the club or a performance director that is the link between management and the directors but can have a completely objective view about everything and his interests not served by the management.
He should also be consulted on management and coaching appointments at all levels of the FC footballing operation.
From there we can structure out into scouting and minimise poor signings such as Friend and Rossiter being given contracts.
