Trying to ignore the off field discussions / ongoings. Big game vs Oxford Saturday, going for a Gas 1-1 Oxford competitive draw.
My line up would be:
Ward (Cox if the clause is true)
Friend Crama Connolly
Thomas Evans Finley McCormick Vale
Martin Collins
COYB’s.

I fear another shambolic display and an Oxford win. Where has the team with heart & pride disappeared to, the same team who beat Portsmouth and roared onto victory by the jubilant Gas heads ? Answers on a post card to: Not a clue 😉 UTFG

Oxford United have made four signings so far in the January transfer window, in goalkeeper Jamie Cumming, wingers Tyler Burey and Kyle Edwards, plus striker Will Goodwin.
Alex Gorrin has gone to FGR on loan and Ed McGinty has returned to Sligo Rovers on loan.
However, Edwards will be unavailable until the end of March due to a hamstring injury, while Goodwin will join full training later this month, as he shakes off a quad problem.
DES BUCKINGHAM STATES:
At the moment, up front, we’re a little bit light in the frontline. Josh Murphy is still out and we’ve obviously lost Stan Mills,” Buckingham said earlier this week.
“Kyle Edwards, Marcus Browne and Billy Bodin are still out as well, so what I’d call five potential starting players out.

All hinges on the return of our injured (and arguably four best) players, any side at this level would struggle losing Taylor, Ward, Martin and Wilson.

Strangely more confident for this one than I was for Exeter. Wet, windy, opponent on a bad run had a Rovers defeat written all over it.

I would have sent Cox back this week and given Jed a run until the end of he season....
If we play like Tuesday night we will get absolutely smashed.... things could get messy !
HOWEVER - If we keep it tight at the back and take the chances we will create we win !

The Exeter game was the first game I had been to for a while and wanted to try out the South Stand. Some observations, the lights were kept on for the whole game, I thought they normally turn the stand lights off when the game kicks off? Anyhow, I found it slightly off putting, minor pint though! The one thing that really struck me was how flat we started the game but also how flat the crowd was I can’t ever remember it being that quiet. I would guess that doesn’t help the players. Appreciate they need to give us something to cheer about but perhaps we could help give them a lift? Bearing in mind a relatively local derby with a good away following I couldn’t believe the silence, bit of a lift in the second half when the noise ramped up in the South Stand and it was really noticeable and pretty loud, so definitely possible to ramp it up!
I know it’s easy to say but let’s try and get behind the team from the start, however poor we are !, and try and give the team a lift.
Having said all of that I can’t see anything other than an Oxford win. Unfortunately, 2-0 to Oxford….

We desperately need another midfielder if Ward's going to be out for a few more weeks.

Will it be a back three. Wilson Connolly Friend. Or a switch to a 4? Hope they don’t have anyone quick! Reckon I could skip past those 3 for speed Personally I’d go 4 at the back HUNT WILSON 🤞 BEEFY GORDON FINLEY MCCORMICK THOMAS EVANS COLLINS MARTIN BIG blow if Taylor is out. I don’t mind Crama if not beefy. I think we need to solid from the off, the players and especially Cox will be nervous if the crowd get on their backs Sometimes you just need to go back to basics Mr Taylor. We need to stop shipping soft goals every week!! UTG

Perhaps a bit harsh Tbone but I agree, he is like a rabbit in the headlights If he makes mistakes Saturday he could fall to pieces Or, conversely, he could be made of stronger stuff and he needs our support? Sticking young Jed behind a leaky defence could shatter him For what it’s worth I think he’s not a bad keeper, League one keepers are generally prone to quite a few gaffs! Probably best to give him some proper gas support, whichever end he runs to first maybe sing his name and show him that as fans (faithful and true) we don’t turn on our own. Leave that to the other lot. UTG

Think it was more to do with a run of defeats and knowing we’ve got nothing left to play for apart from avoiding relegation. Also people are not in their normal spot which feels a little bit odd. Added …..we were bloody awful! 😂
