Will be happy if he beats his player once. He doesn't need to try and beat him the second time. Really hope he gets game time.

Will this lad be better than Ryan Jones?? Why are we paying to develop other teams youngsters when our season is in the Pan? we should be having a really good look at what we have in the squad already until the end of this year and start making some decisions as a football club, that in the heat of the Battle in a league game on a Saturday in front of Fans and when it matters, are our young up and coming players up to it? if not they go at the end of the season, if they have got a bit sign them up for 2 years and and give them a run, who knows we might even make a few quid on them as well and we can grow as a club. This current scatter gun approach is not working! Under Barton it was never going to Happen but I expected more of Taylor. May be its again poor guidance and management from the owners and inexperience but we need to start being more professional and ruthless. This Window has been a Joke!

I've been a big fan of Ryan Jones since we signed him from Weston, and agree that he deserves a chance. Aguilera is a different class though, and I'm really excited by what he can do for us. We asked for pace in the team, and the club have delivered.

The Not The Top 20 website did a live transfer window blog last night and they seemed impressed about his signing...
23:29 - Ali Maxwell Brandon Aguilera (AM) - [Nottingham Forest - Bristol Rovers]
"Bristol Rovers have got themselves a Costa Rican genie in a bottle!
A small, lefty, skilful midfielder to pop into Gas' midfield... wait, didn't I just write that about Harry Vaughan?
I asked the NTT20 Squad about Aguilera:
His work rate is great, got that feisty South American bite in him." Like that.
"Scored a couple of unbelievable goals for Costa Rica too." Tell me more.
"I’d say it could be one of the signings of the window if they can get it done." Dirrty.
The NTT20 Squad is the football equivalent of the 'knowledgeable Crucible crowd’. And they've got me all hot under the collar.
VERDICT: BEAUTIFUL"

I cant see it! will we sign him next year going forwards, I cant see it. so what will he do for us. Well nothing is the answer. After May we are back to square one trying to sign some else, and this is my point. What we are doing is giving valuable experience to Kid that has no intention of playing for us next season and I don't see the point in 3 of the players we have on loan and they are all costing us a pretty penny! what will have to show for that money at the end of the season. Again i think the answer is nothing, and that is what is fundamentally wrong with us as a club right now.

Also what’s to say if he lives it here we might get him on loan for next season. Wishful thinking I know. Also 3 managers have seen Jones now, none feel ready for the 1st team, so maybe his development is better placed playing games, than sat on our bench.

I'd take a team of 11 loanies if it gets us to that point and then rebuild in the summer. We're light on numbers and lost our player with most assists so can't see the problem myself.

I agree, but that is my point, Taylor hasn't seen Jones and he's played about 20 minutes for Bromley since October. So he's only warming their bench at the moment. Barton must of seen enough of him to give him another Contract extension. My point is, lets see them and make a decision. Build for the Future, Players are more likely to come if they see a manger building something special and actually coaching, not if we finish 13th instead of 15th.

The problem is we are back to square one next season and come January we are all here moaning we have got 4-5 loan players and we still haven't signed JCH (lol). We should have used January to start building, Even Darrell Clark has just bought a young lad from Bath City on a 2 1/2 year deal, Bristol City a kid from Aldershot 3 year Deal. And us lets put a plaster over it and get a couple of loans in! its insanity. The Club needs to wake up.

We also got a kid for the future (and good enough for now), DC also signed two strikers who have barely scored for clubs in lower divisions. Imagine the meltdown if we'd signed those 2 this window!!

We might have 2 or 3 in the squad list already. who's to know? And that is my point with all this, we should be thorough with our squad now and see where we are. what is Taylor going to do in July? give Ryan Jones, Harvey Greenslade and Jerry Lawrence another years contract so he can see them Pre-Season? I have seen lots on here saying Jed ward is not ready or he would be playing!, and the minute Belshaw goes and Cox (who is sh**e) gets dropped we give Jed a game and he's man of the match. This is what we should be doing now with the other 3 and if they are not up to it now, Taylor and the staff can make a decision on them. We should never have got Cox on Loan as Jed is a great No. 2 or what could be until the end of the season no 1! and who knows we may get a big team who see the potential in him may offer a few quid and that all helps us as a club. We need a good young squad with a handful of experienced players and keep that team together for 2 or 3 years and have a real go, and at the moment when we need clarity and its not happening.

We still have a lot of games left this season and at the very least (as we appear to be going nowhere) I want to be entertained so hopefully that is what we will get from this lad. We could be sat on an extra 9 points at 5.30pm next Saturday after 3 winnable games this week and the new guys may just contribute to that. We may start looking up again if that happens....

I don't think we will and I think we'll finish somewhere between 10th-15th but the club can't take financial risks. We're getting (supposedly) a QUALITY player here and comparing him to Ryan Jones (who btw plays a different position) is apples and oranges. Likewise, by signing a player like Christina, the board may think this can catapult us back into playoff contention (I don't think so but hey ho). FWIW I would've called Jones back and given him a chance to be backup to Vale but reality is 1. multiple managers don't think he's ready, 2. he's been injured, and therefore 3. he'll benefit from gametime. From a youth perspective, I'm very content to see Jed be given a go between the sticks now and I'd like to see Hoole show that there's something worth keeping when his deal runs out. I understand your frustration about us continuing to grab loanees instead of giving more youth a chance but I think your opinion is too over-the-top. I don't think the club need to 'wake up' because they've managed to lure two current internationals and an ROI u19 regular in.

Not sure I agree that Ryan Jones is all that different a position Yes he has played a lot on the Left but that is only been put on him during the Barton Era, Played attacking Midfielder for Bath and also played as a no. 10 when he came on in an EFL cup Game 14 months ago against Exeter City Scoring once and assisting the other from off the bench. I think now fit it would have been a good for Taylor to see him and make his mind up on him. I was Delighted for Jed as i have watched him for 10 years and seen him Grow and get better and Better. I don't think my opinion is too over the top, i just see opportunities for us to have a look at the youth before we spend money (we could use at the of start of next season) on Loan players that have little experience and there fore taking a punt on. I want us to re-build asap for the Future and start getting some credibility back at the club and start playing a good, hungry settled team for the future and i fell looking at the youngsters now, speeds that process up by 6 months.

Doesn't look like he's played much real game time the last few years since turning pro. I mean that's not strictly true, he's won the Apertura* in Costa Rica as well as the CONCACAF League which, are both decent levels of football. To have 84 senior appearances before your 21st birthday is decent going. It's a signing that could go either way but should be entertaining. *Apertura's means Opening, Clausura means closing. In Central and South America many leagues are split into two domestic seasons the Apertura and Clausura. Two league titles are won and sometimes lead to a Playoff between the two winners depending on country.
