On paper a strong looking coaching setup. Pleased to see the link and pathway with Lord Byron is hopefully going to be closer. On a side note, whether he would be interested or not is a different matter, but I've always thought Byron showed a lot of leadership qualities that had the potential be developed into a sporting director or director of football type of role. Bond a more experienced option with invaluable insights to pass on. Maybe the right people for key positions are already at the club, but just need promoting or roles redefined? Just a thought.

It would be an odd move, MT asks BA to assist him with the coaching one minute, the next minute the club promotes him to a role above MT.
KB seems to like the role in the background he has at Rovers.
We need an experienced recruitment expert now, as we seem to have enough on the management/coaching side.

Anyone know whether Bond and Carlisle are part time or full time? Rumour is they are both full time during the day and scouting away matches nights and weekends on double salary

Bonds been around the block a long time, but only in a coaching capacity!A lot more to it than being a good coach - contacts, recruitment, processes and procedures of all footballing aspects. IMO it is needed and it will be interesting to see who the owners get to help them now that Tom isn’t there.Rumour that Academy is closing younger ages from 12s down,’so Byron could well move into that role if not needed at ancademy anymore.

Bond has been in the game for over 40 years as a player, youth coach, scout, first team coach, assistant manager and manager. He will have learnt a thing or two working closely with 'arry along the way and outside of the game he has experience of running a commercial retail business. He might be perfectly happy as things are and have no interest, it was literally just a thought that popped into my head, but whatever role, that experience could prove invaluable. I said it before on here, but I would try and get a meeting with the FA Technical Director John McDermott if possible or someone leading the Sports Directorship course at the Etihad Campus to pick their brains and getter a better insight.

Good to see we’ve got the back room staff that Matt Taylor clearly wanted.
For all the talk about appointing a CEO, Technical director, Head of recruitment, player development coach, performance manager, ego massage specialist, what the f do these people actually do and what cost is it to clubs at our level of business? I’m happy with the slimline approach - it seemed to work in the days of Tann, Megson, Francis and Holloway!

What "these people actually do" is support the manager and give him the best possible chance of success. They should be looking after the best interests of the club at all levels in the short, medium and long term, driving the club forwards on and off the pitch, with a clear vision, joined up thinking and succession plans in place for every eventuality. The game, or industry around football, is a lot different from the days of Tann, Megson, Francis and Holloway. You either adapt and evolve, or stand still and get left behind. Although even Holloway had a Chief Scout, Richard Everson, back in the 1990's. I'll throw out that number again, 27 years since we last reached the third tier playoffs. That suggests we haven't perhaps fulfilled our potential and could do with a smarter approach?

"at the moment" suggests it's only temporary, could it be WC himself doesn't want to work full time if he's still living up north?

Excellent news. A friend of a friend who reads and participates on this site, took umbrage at my remark above and interpreted it as a slur on Wayne Carlisle. Not so at all, just seemed important that we got the assistant manager and Bond signed above all else. Hope that's clear now ffs. Back to real life. UT(F)G.
