If only our home form was better we would be in the mix for the play offs surely ?

If only our home form was better we would be in the mix for the play offs surely ? Maybe, but in a 'Home Games Only' table we're 13th and in an 'Away Games Only' table we're 10th, same as in the full league table... ....mid-table by every measure!

We need to stop this nonsense talk. We simply are not a consistently good enough team to be in the top 6.
The manager references this in his press last night and says the team is where it should be in the table.
Play offs are long gone and weren’t ever “on”

There are always lots of “If only’s” Imagine if only half our squad wasn’t made out of glass for example…..

It would be interesting to look at where we would be in a table that only included points against teams in the top half of the table. There are so many results against the ‘lesser teams’ in the league this season that do make you think , ‘if only’.

We have lost 4 at home in the last few weeks Backpool, Exeter, Fleetwood and Burton. Our home form would have been better and higher up the home form table had we won those 4. We would also be on 55 points the same as Oxford in 6th place (which was the point I think Huntyhunt was trying to make)

We are absolutely a mid-table team with a very good first XI but when that first XI isn’t there we often suffer. But whatever, you’ve always got to enjoy the journey. 👍👍👍 UTG!

We’re still on course for a highest finish in decades though aren’t we ? There has been progress at the club over the last couple of years and if that continues then it won’t be long before we’re challenging.
Or we’ll drop back down and continue to be a yo-yo league 1 / 2 club . Well just have to wait and see.
Thing is looking at the league 1 table it’s only really Stevenage above us that have a smaller stadium and lesser crowds so we’re not punching above our weight and we’re not underachieving. Where we are in the table is about right for where we are as a club I reckon. Hopefully we’ll push on keep improving the stadium and keep improving the team and set up and only then could we realistically have any chance of competing to stay up if we did go up.

There are so many results against the ‘lesser teams’ in the league this season that do make you think , ‘if only’. No idea if anyone (website or nerd!) can work that out. Best I can calculate is our record against teams who are currently top half vs bottom half, so they might have been in different league places when we played them - and I'm only doing it for us not every side to see how we compare! Vs Top Half P16 W4 D5 L7 PTS17 Vs Bottom Half P16 W6 D2 L8 PTS 20

We’ve won 12 games so not sure this is right! Only adds up to 10

Tis the time of season when fans of every club will be saying 'if only'! Life is full of 'sliding door 'moments.

We’ve won 12 games so not sure this is right! Only adds up to 10 Yes, I mucked up the bottom half Triple checked it now, it should read: Vs Top Half P16 W4 D5 L7 PTS17 Vs Bottom Half P16 W8 D2 L6 PTS 26 [edit] so even more suggests we remember the results against the bigger teams more, but we do far better against the 'worse' teams...

Literally doing it on the back of an old envelope, I think because Northampton are 12th I assumed that was bottom half....

With the 3 wins against Charlton twice and Wigan this is why people say we do better against “better” teams.
