I would be more than happy to be 3rd in 3rd tier of football right now.....but I think this is fair reflection of where we are historically.

My perception is that without looking at stats, we’ve averaged out as a 3rd tier club.
Interesting that this bears that out

They have been in the second tier more recently than us. 03/04 season. They've had 2 spells in the 2nd tier since we were last there. They also went up in 98/99, finished runners up to Fulham, and above Man City. I think Ray Graydon was their manager

It might be our level but we are right up there in terms of defeats this century

Not really pertaining to these figures but an interesting stat I think. 51 teams have played in the Premier League and despite The Swamp dwellers best efforts they haven't. That's half a Billion £ spent in a failed attempt to do what over half the teams in the country have done Are the Ted's indeed, pound for pound spent, the biggest under achievers in European Football

And also call us the 15'ers to celebrate our season out of the football league, yet are currently a division below a team who were there a year before us

I think Ray Graydon was their manager We were and after 50+ years still are a 3rd division side, give or take the odd few years above and below that. I first watched Bristol Rovers in the early 1960's at Eastville, playing in blue and white stripes. They were a mid table division 3 side. They were the equal of City but didn't own their own ground. The first derby game I watched was at Eastville and it was a 1-1 draw and the attendance was 25,370 I think. The 2nd match was at Ashton Gate and City won 2-1 and the attendance was 23,000 I think. Rovers have always been hard up financially and unable to complete at a higher level for long.
