OR
Will it be a Good Friday when we visit Vale Park on Friday 29th March 2024?
The record books indicate that Bristol Rovers are usually successful when we entertain sides at The Memorial Stadium on Good Friday.
Results of away matches on Good Friday or Easter Saturday do not make for such easy reading.
At HOME on the first of the Easter weekend matches the last defeat was back in 2008. Lost 3-2 to Huddersfield Town.
The last FIVE HOME games against Charlton Athletic, Salford City, Bury, Cambridge United and Chester have brought all three points.
On our travels we last won a Good Friday or Easter Saturday match back in 2007. Won 1-0 versus Mansfield Town.
We have failed to win at Ipswich Town, AFC Wimbledon, Gillingham, Portsmouth and Carlisle United since 2007 on the GF/ES date.
All sequences must end. It is not unrealistic to make a strong case that we might well earn the three points on Friday.
A fresher squad, a few returning players and strong away support are just three of the reasons.
Just hoping a certain ex-Gas striker does not manage to score against us.

Assumed this was going to be a post about the constant rain and possible postponement!

Their first win for a while last week (and they are in desperate need of points to stay up), at Burton.Nice ground but the surrounding area of Burslem is dire.Cheap beer though. Our season is fast petering out but we so need a committed performance to restore the faith .We lack genuine pace sadly but hopeful we can do a lot better than of late. Burslem is one of the five towns(some say six) which form the City of Stoke on Trent . Robbie Williams hails from Burslem but posh it ain't.

Can see a defeat here. They have it all to play for. Some of ours seem to have checked out.

This will be my 4th visit to Vale and Iโve not see the Gas loose yet (2 draws and 1 win). However I donโt think they will win tomorrow, 0-0 in coming.

We will get to see just how much influence MT has over this group .
I think we could see another 0-3 incoming here as one team will be up for it whilst the other still feeling sorry for themselves even after a week off and bad apples still moulding in the dressing room environment.
Think Cox could be brought back in .. to rest JW who has had eight slammed past him in two games.,
Expecting Wilson to be back to partner Taylor but will MT also try and incorporate Baggott as well.
Midfield battle will be huge .. hopefully BA will start ( unlikely I know) .

It's a big ask to play twice in 2 days though, especially travelling from the far side of the US. The Premier League get an extra day for their players of course as everything done in football is to benefit them.

Ah I see what you did there, bad apples, Cox brought back in I like it. ๐ Apart from bringing Cox back in, letโs stick with our 2 goalies Jedward.

Ward let in 8 in 3 games, not 2. There was a clean sheet in the middle! Assume Wilson comes back in for Baggott. Hope to see some fight.

I've never enjoyed watching Rovers play there.
I can remember Bob Newton playing as a striker for Rovers. He had been a legend at Vale. He was so bad against them that at half-time I genuinely felt like asking if I could replace him and my leg was in plaster.
Oh there was also the loss in the play-offs. If we had won that then maybe we could have kept Nigel Martyn and Gary Penrice for longer but then again we wouldn't have had the joy at beating 82 to the title the following season.
On another occasion we won 1-0 but I missed the goal as I'd gone for a pee.
