Ward and Rossiter both went off. Was this precautionary or should we have injury concerns. No comments in the press.

Rossiter- precautionary Wilson- hamstring Ward - hamstring He said Wilson had a right hamstring from early on. So we might see him play again this season. Pointless risking players though.

Grant Ward unfortunately is a car crash
Great player on his day but unable to put a spell together before hobbling off
Rossiter again, great player but can we afford to risk him again next season?
I think Finley will be off in the summer.
McCormick very hit and miss
You could argue Conteh will be the only central midfielder here start of next season.
I hope MT is ruthless with the crocks, we cannot afford to carry players, it’s been a disaster this season.

Was just about to post something similar - I think we definately need to give him another go, as long as he's not too expensive.

I’d love nothing more than to see him play a full season Can you see it happening? Imagine the meltdown if he’s signed up and breaks down again at the start of next season! Ok, a pay as you play contract could work, would he want one though? Some youth and legs needed in the middle, big summer of recruitment coming right across the squad UTG

Assuming he stays fit until the end of the season Rossiter must be worth the risk, as he could be the difference between a mid table or top 6 finish?
Sadly I don't think Ward is worth the risk, even if the same applies to him, as he just can't stay fit.

UTG I have a agree with the above, it was great to see JR back and getting some game time in, and undeniably is a quality midfielder, no doubt he’d be playing in the championship or premiership, but he’s playing in league one because he has a shocking injury record. Think it’s time we looked at players going forward on their game time rather than their promise. There’s 4 or 5 players we should move on because they spend far too much time in the treatment room not enough on the pitch.

You sense MT might be thinking along similar lines, otherwise he would have kept him wrapped in cotton wool, then just released him injury free in the summer. Unless he really feared that defeat yesterday could cost him his job

The problem is will we ever be anything but a mid table side if we don't take the risk on the odd player with a dodgy injury record? It's unlikely a team of J Ward, Conteh, Taylor and Connolly etc will get us promoted. Who could forecast McCormick would be such a sick note?

Hunt, Rossiter and Ward should be starters but we have to offset this with younger cheaper players we can develop - Hoole, Gordon, Lawrence, Shaw etc
Hopefully we develop a style of play which is right for us, we get organised and everyone (and their squad replacements) knows their jobs.
Throughout the season we have injuries, tactical and formation changes and square pegs in round holes and wholesale changes week from week.
It is good to have a plan B, but we went past plan Z in November.
For all the talk of the best team, we have to learn from mistakes on the past (Jones should have played in the last 3-4 matches last season and Macey, Sinclair, Shaquille Hunter etc before them.
It worked for Kite, G Williams, Slatter and Ollie.
Hopefully Shaw, Lawrence, Hall etc get a few minutes. Better to play now, than having injuries when we are desperate for points this time next year and not knowing if they can cope mentally or physically, so we can try to develop them in all aspects over the next season.

Agree with most of that. But if Taylor does and we lose all the remaining games a lot of people start jumping up and down saying he should be sacked. I know my view is a bit prejudicial because I found Barton a repulsive human being, but it seems to me that the club is in need of rebuild both on and off the pitch after the chaos his involvement brought. I hope the new owners have the pockets and mental acuity to deliver that. Every reset presents and opportunity and I suspect another failure to grasp such could lead to terminal decline. You can't chuck money at it ad infinitum to cover ineptitude.

Imo, time to cash our chips in on Grant Ward, Wilson I believe has another season; I hope Jordi is with BRFC next season, and the medics can keep him playing on the grass, a fit JR would enhance Rovers chances of getting promoted next season.

But how much time do you spend trying to develop the likes of Hoole & Gordon before deciding they aren't going to make it, given neither has hardly developed over the last 2 years and, if anything, have both regressed, Hoole in particular, look at the difference yesterday when Hunt actually got as far the byline before crossing the ball. Who's really likely to develop more, Baggott if we could sign him, or Hoole?? As far as playing the other youngsters I pay good money to watch a competitive game I don't want to watch us lose giving youngsters game time when they can get that in the pre-season friendlies. I sense MT (& the co-owners?) have now got that message.

Chatting to some club linked guys yesterday they suggested that the end of season cull could be absolutely huge.
Loanees obviously - vast majority of out of contracts and a number in contract who have been told they are free to find a new club.
Also talked about a rumour of Evans being watched by Bolton -
We shall see … one thing for sure - it’s going to be a different starting eleven come August.

Not too fussed if Evans leaves if we get a decent transfer fee, as I doubt he's been MotM once since JB departed? If we're really going to progress next season then the likes of Wilson, G Ward, Connolly, McCormick, Brown and even Hunt may have to be replaced and I can't see the point of offering Hoole or Gordon new deals. Could even Taylor be on the way out given is recent form? Sinclair has probably done enough lately to warrant a new contract. This summer could be interesting, as new players could well be arriving on a weekly basis.

I can’t see his career lasting into his 30’s and I reckon he’ll already be thinking about a future coaching career. Perhaps a pay as you play deal and some coaching responsibilities thrown in too?
