With MT saying he has been selecting a team for someone else, could "they" actually be us ie the fans?
Most want Jed Ward, some want Hoole and Gordon to play, I would like Shaw, Hall, Lawrence and Greenslade to feature at least in 10 minute cameos.
Maybe some are not ready. If he has been experimenting, it is the perfect time to do it. The season has been over for ages, but the pressure on the manager for results and performances never stop.
I bet he has learned a lot about our squad, fans and set up though.

it would have been players who felt that they wanted to be given a chance to play, fans who talk about playing our own guys instead of loanees - maybe even owners who want more youth given a chance, The list goes on ..

More likely to be the players out of contract who wanted an opportunity and those in contract but who have been told to find a new club for next season.... Definitely think he has tried to accommodate Hoole, Gordon , Brown, Connolly, McCormick, Grant - Time will tell if any get a chance other than to cover injuries. Rumoured on Saturday that Marquis has thrown a tantrum so not expecting to see much of him now ... Will we see Finley again ( another thread) equally not convinced.

The owners wanted to see a starting team that had no loanees or over 30's (hence the starting line up v Reading)

I can't understand why it needed KB to tell MT to select his best players, wasn't that the obvious thing to do after such a poor run?
Possibly the owners wanted to see the likes of Hoole & co play before making a decision regarding releasing them, I'm not really sure any of them have done enough to make him change his mind.

That's a relief, for a minute I thought it might be true. 😉

I think you will find MT has answered that (i.e. that is what he was referring to in his post match prezzer on Saturday) MT never suggested he was told to play thr youngsters v Reading?

He's saying he was trying to 'please everyone' rather than put out his best 11 for a particular game. It didn't sound in any way a dig at the owners to me. I don't believe for a minute that the team he put out v Reading was his best 11 for that game, Cheltenham clearly was (despite admitting he was 'risking' certain players). I've read lots about this being a time for experimenting, and I expect some of those in certain roles against Reading were pushing for a last chance in what I presume they see as their best positions. He was also probably mindful that had he stuck with doing that at Cheltenham on Saturday, even the more patient fans would kick off.
He's saying he's been acting in the best interests of the club, giving players a fair chance to prove themselves before replacing them rather than 'risking' (possibly) Ward and Rossiter. He's probably also saying he's been less inclined to start players he wants to keep. Sounds like a nightmare job to me, and an awful time to take over a squad with most of our better players carrying injuries, on their last legs, or both. Not to mention the ones that know they'll be elsewhere soon by choice or not. We'll just have to see what he does in the Summer, and it's far too early to write him off. I'll take being a bit uninspired by a dour sounding man, over being gaslighted by a psychopath, all day long.
