Read today that Celtic are prepared to listen to offers in the region of £300K for Bosun Lawal - Guy was a colossus at Fleetwood. Commanding at Centre Back and can bring the ball forward well. Would wear the Quarters very well. Think Derby County might be interested though. £300k is a bargain. Can also play in midfield. View AttachmentI think that's where he started excelling. For a side that got relegated and spent most of the season at the bottom, Fleetwood had some decent players. Id also take Lynch, Rooney, Wiredu and Carl Johnston as well

Wages are limited to 60% of turnover? Our turnover in the last set of accounts was £7.3m.
So that would be £4.3m, with a typical L1 player earning c.£4,000 pw, that suggests a squad of only 21 players.
Just goes to show that a few higher earners can skew the figures.

Brendan wiredu is someone we should be looking at, he played really well when they beat us 2-0 at home. Decent age as well.

Most importantly give a bit of assurance to those who doubt the owners. Pirate can you email Mr Friend?

You'd like to think a DoF would be fully aware of the contract situation and transfer status of players like that though.

Yeah considering he bossed us at home you would hope he would already be on our radar. Sadly better teams will also have him on their radar. As for Wiredu I said we should have signed him when he moved from Colchester

One year left and only 22 so will probably need a little cash, but anyone think Lorent Tolaj from Aldershot is worth looking at? Make a nice change from our players playing there. No doubt Jones and Greenslade will be there next season?! Thought he looks decent from NL highlights show this season.

Probably be back in for Greg Docherty this summer now he is out-of-contract at Hull. We tried to sign him in January.

Would Matty Stevens be a good squad option up front. Released from FGR. Yes good call. Depends on his recovery from his bad injury. But his record this season might mean he’s recovered ok. He has been decent in an awful team. Was a class player the season we both went up. UTG!

Connor Ogilvie will be available soon, would defo have him here Portsmouth Football Club have offered new contracts to captain Marlon Pack and defender Connor Ogilvie. Options have not been taken up on Joe Morrell and Zak Swanson, but negotiations are ongoing with both players. Pompey can also confirm that 10 players will be leaving the club when their contracts expire this summer. Sean Raggett, Joe Rafferty, Lee Evans, Josh Martin, Matt Macey, Ryan Schofield, Haji Mnoga, Harry Jewitt-White, Liam Vincent and Josh Dockerill are all set to depart. www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/2024/may/pompey-retained-list-summer-2024/

Made a graphic of the current squad/depth for visual learners like me This warrants a thread of its own so it's easy to find? Kofi Shaw needs adding somewhere as he appears to be a pro but no idea which is his best position.

Really good article on the bbc website yesterday about Geoff Twentyman Senior - Liverpool FC’s chief scout, recruited by Shankly and largely responsible for a stream of amazing players. Hope George Friend has the same magic touch !!!

If Koby Mottoh hasn't been offered a deal then he would he worth considering. We should be aware of him because he scored against our u18s this season. Attachment Deleted

You could be right but alongside better players than he’s had this season…… Whatever, I’m sure GF will be aware as would MT. Not that it’s important or relevant but 10 years ago we signed a FGR player, similar position, who couldn’t get in their National League side and that didn’t go too badly! UTG!

There is a player in 22-year-old Charlie McCann if someone can unlock his potential. In hindsight he made a poor career choice moving to FGR, but he does have ability. Came through the ranks at Manchester United before moving to Rangers for a fee that could have risen to about £800k and then won their academy player of the year award. Played England U16 and then switched to Northern Ireland where he has represented them to U21 level and was called up to the senior squad for their Nations League games in 2022.
