There’s only been ten signings by the whole of League One so far, wouldn’t read too much into odds yet. And Rotherham have signed 6 of them! 😉 Some very good players there and all before the end of May. UTG! Good players and in early enough to get settled and be with their teammates from day one of preseason- they’ll likely be able to hit the ground running whereas we’re more likely to be doing most of our business late which in turn makes it more difficult to get off to a fast start. That’s part of the reason why I wanted at least a few permanent signings in January and as many as possible early in the summer window as we are looking at such a big turnover of players it’s going to be so hard to get them to gel in time for the opening games.

Odd isn’t it ? People on here not getting the fact that monotone was handed a poor hand , a big group of players who knew their time was coming to an end. It’s pretty obvious results would tail off . Doesn’t mean he’s clueless, any other manager would of struggled with that set of cards . I’ve said all along that keeping us up with Barton’s players was ok and that I’ll only really judge him on whether he can take us forward after a decent run of games in the new season. I’ve got absolutely no idea how this season is going to go none of us have so we might as well get behind the manager and his players in this new season. I’d imagine we’ve got around a mid table budget and I know mid table won’t be enough for many fans but let’s face it we are not a big club in the 3rd tier these days like we used to be and that’s down to decades of stagnation not the current managers fault.

If Luke Thomas goes to Barnsley and Tony Evans goes to Bolton/Derby, then we must hope Saint Matthew is busy lining up suitable replacements.
Cough.

Where's the Luke Thomas to Barnsley rumour come from, I thought the main reason to moving to Rovers was to be back home, as he struggled living away from the Forest of Dean area?

Since when are the odds all correct? Check Oxford and Stevenage from last summer Fortunately football isn’t all about budget and some of the most exciting times watching rovers have been against the odds instead of big fish in little ponds. Agreed but the bookies are normally pretty good . That’s why they make so much money ! Obvs wrong with the Gas this time as Monotone Matt will lead us to the title at a canter. Bookies couldn't care less about the outcome - odds (especially this early) are mostly calculated based on money being placed or likely to be placed, not what the results will be...

No doubt Rovers will take their time recruiting players for the new season. It is vitally important the club bring in a mixture of experienced and young players hungry for success. I suppose any signing has a risk factor. Rovers traditionally start a season trying to play ‘catch up’ after about twelve games or so! This could well be a daunting task if the usual start occurs in what is shaping up to be a really tough division. UTG.
