"But you need to acknowledge that your privileged platform suggests that your views are perceived as the views of the majority"
It's a Blog Curly Wurly which, by its nature, is generally an opinion piece by a single individual. It's name is Frankie Prince's Bovver Boots, which suggests it is probably meant to be on the humorous side. I would be highly surprised if DC or anyone else is small-minded enough to view it as the opinion of the majority. He only has to see the negative comments it attracts or the general level of support he gets to work out the majority actually support him and what he is trying to do.

Having read the article, it's an opinion and controversy makes a good read, journalists wouldnt get anywhere by towing the line! I find the remarks interesting also.

It's my honest opinion, captain, for better or worse. I left Dartford feeling totally deflated and thinking that we should have taken the game by the scruff of the neck and won it. When I read DC's comments they just annoyed me and I wanted to give an alternative viewpoint. DC says we are the best team in the division, but we should prove it on a consistent basis by winning at places like Dartford. That was a very, very poor result and performance. DC said he won't use the pitch as an excuse, so why are our fans?

I enjoy reading the blogs (BR and MM), although I may not always agree with them. In this case, having heard Darrell's interview live, I don't think that the selected quotes do justice to the message which came across. I'm happy to continue being the toy boy's cheap date - I think it could have a happy ending! Cilla Black has a Surprise, Surprise for you my darling!

BR perhaps you could explain where you think DC went wrong, it was hardly his fault Mildenhall was fouled/punched the ball into his own net nor Parkes gave a stupid free kick away for handball. He also didn't make the pitch an unplayable mud bath nor lost Easter for 5 mins and had to pick Lockyer in midfield. What do we do next if DC says "I'm fed up with constant criticism in the B Post etc I'm off"? If he did that Toppergas then I think you and everyone who thinks Darrell has something about him would be entitled to question everything you know of him. Do you think someone who comes across as knowing his own mind, strong-willed, resilient and full of belief is going to cave in at a little bit of tongue-in-cheek criticism on a website from one fan out of thousands who doesn't even get paid for his opinions? I think he would be a pretty weak character to do that. As for your question about where I think he went wrong, I'm not sure he adapted to the conditions in the way that he should have done. a. I question the wisdom of picking Easter, who hasn't played for some time, on a quagmire of a pitch. b. I don't feel he made the right call in picking Lockyer in midfield when he could have paired Monkhouse and Mansell, while bringing in a wide man with pace like Harrison, Dawson or Balanta. c. He took off Blissett, who was ideally suited to the conditions and giving their defence problems, far too early. d. We should have been more direct, fed off Blissett and had more shots on target. As it is, apart from the goals which were two defensive gentlemans appendage-ups, I rarely remember Jason Brown (who looked to be carrying a bit of weight) being tested. The truth is that Dartford are part timers. On a gluepot of a pitch like that we should have lasted longer than them, worn them down and won more comfortably, rather than fluke a goal eight minutes from time then hope our defence can hold out. And while everyone is talking about an "unplayable mudbath", how many times did we use that to our advantage in the second half of the season at the Mem a few seasons ago? It's not like our players aren't used to it. It's all opinions at the end of the day... if DC values mine so much then more fool him. Easter injury had nothing to do with the pitch? He started with Monkhouse in the middle but reverted to the wing after Easter's injury Blisset's always subbed early, as you say he hadn't tested brown but his replacement, Harrison, scored? Since when did any of want hoof football? next you will be calling for JW's return Which attacking players played on the Mem pitch regularly last? Just Harrison?? The problem with the contunuing sniping at DC via the BP is that it spreads to the Mem crowd and we finish up with fans on the players & DC's backs as soon as we struggle, although I don't you worry about that seeing as you never watch Rovers at the Mem? Yes, we should beat the likes of Dartmouth but keep saying that in the press isn't going to make it happen any sooner.

I took a week off work to see Rovers home to Braintree and it got called off. I live in London and work Saturdays. I have been at the Mem when we were bottom of League 1 with 4,000 other hardy souls. When I can go, I go. If you're looking for cheap shots, that is the lowest. Btw. Easter's injury was caused by twisting. Foot got stuck in the pitch perhaps? No one knows for sure the mudheap didn't contribute. ps. I'd be hugely worried if we couldn't beat Dartmouth!

Jesus H Christ what a bloody sensitive bunch you all are, i'm surprised your delicate little selves find their way onto a Forum, dear dear me. It may have escaped your notice but i think the point of these sodding blogs and forum style sites is to say what people think! Bloody hell compared to some of the rubbish you read on here it was positively refreshing!
I think Mr Rippers writes an interesting piece, do i agree with it - not necessarily, but that's not the bloody point of it. Buck (if i may use the bloggers first name) has eloquently taken the time to write his views and in fairness he has done so with aplomb. Now, if he is to write purely fluffy, bang the drum, i'm a Pirate, weez the greatest articles it could become rather boring and predictable not too mention of course that nobody would bleedin read it as it would just resemble a sodding "One Direction - We Love you no matter what" style and we'd need buckets beside us to read it.
Now, onto the subject matter. I'd like to think Mr Clarke can handle a few criticisms now and again, otherwise let's be honest he's chose the wrong bleedin vocation! Darrell himself was highly critical of his players last Saturday and rightfully so, well he's the Commander of the unit that didn't achieve it's objective versus Dartford, so fairs fair - Darrell, Not good enough son - End of. He know's it, we know it and the whole crappy league knows it. He'll know as much as anyone...you want the praise - Win the Sodding game!
As long as the criticism is not abusive or vile (which this article is not) its fair comment. I can assure you supporters returning from Dartford, many of whom were down in the dumps didn't all sing "We're gonna win the League" and i spy something beginning with "P" in their cars on the way sodding home! The team we're pi$$ed off, DC was pi$$ed off and of course we were bleedin pi$$ed off.
So if you can't handle a few opinions why on earth do you read these things, stay away from them and watch The Sound of bleedin music with "Don't Worry" and the sodding wailers playing in the background!
'R Darrel is in my own opinion doing a relatively good job and i fully expect us to be promoted come May. But, he knows it's got to be bloody done and failure will not be good enough in more ways than one.
Well sod off then, that is all.

You should try the other forum, they're a bundle of laughs on there! This forum is actually light reading compared to that. At least some of the guys on here are open for debate and understand the ethos behind "Frankie Prince's Bovver Boots".

Phew - a lot of heat generated by an online blog that 99.9% of readers will know is a personal opinion. But apparently it makes the crowd hate the team, makes Darrell cry, and makes the team lose.
Next week's blog: "Strawberry jam making. To use lids or those little paper circles with rubber bands round?"

It took too long to load the page so I gave up and closed it, don't like the BCEP, too many ads. Love DC though.

Easter's injury was caused by a block tackle according to DC, he made no mention of the pitch playing a part in his injury. But if he hasn't started what's the betting this week's blog would have been critical of DC not starting the newcomers?

How the hell am I supposed to get them back on with the band afterwards? What good do they do anyway? They're not airtight. LIDS! OBVIOUSLY! This really winds me up with my wife's plum jam and marmalade.

Someone saying your opinion is dumb is not the same as them attempting to stifle your opinion.

Someone saying your opinion is dumb is not the same as them attempting to stifle your opinion. That's true enough. But someone saying Buckrippers shouldn't post "negative" stuff on his blog in "his position" sounds to me like he needs to be censored to protect us all from nasty opinions.

Just think it's pretty stupid that a lot of our fan base seem to pick a new reason every week for our club being uniquely doomed and unsalvageable. Makes me laugh cuz I was expecting to come 5-8th this year and it seems to me that being 2nd at this stage of the season, without a defeat in... I've genuinely lost count... is objectively a good thing and an unprecedented result for our first season down here. If you want to believe the players and DC aren't good enough and that we are somehow second in the league for any other reason apart from their efforts, then I say: "on any sensible, logical level you are incorrect but I certainly have no energy/desire to stop you from believing that. Ye big ol' crazy you." Seriously, it's a forum and a blog in a poxy local paper, there's no grand free-speech issue here. #JenesuispasBuckrippers
